Tot And Tt&T Providing Improved Customer Service...

Featured Replies

In the time I have been in Thailand (Chiang Mai) Internet speeds have gradually improved and every year or so I have had to go into the TOT office and ask why I hadn't been upgraded to the new faster service for the same price (or less). The answer has always been that I could of course take advantage of the new deal, albeit with the caveat that I sign for a further 12 months. My point is that I have always had to instigate this. I'm sure if I had never been into the TOT office I would still be on 256k for 800 Baht!

How things are changing now... I got a letter recently informing me that I am being upgraded from 3mb to 4mb at no cost (this happened a few days ago and worked with no problem) and also that for the next 3 months I will be charged 390 Baht instead of the regular 590 Baht. I'm now thinking of going in to complain that they almost caused me a major heart attack brought on by shock! I'm glad it was a proper letter not email or I would have thought it was a con...

My friend who lives up the road from me is with TT&T. He recently had them call at his house and replace all the phone lines. This with no complaints about the service from him; they just turned up. They ran a new one to the house and then asked him if he would like a phone extension installing for free too... which he happily accepted, after having them confirm that this was really for free! Are these people just trying to weird us out or what?

My only explanation for this is that 3B is stealing all of their customers up here in Chiang Mai and the bosses at TOT and TT&T are suffering with loose bowels... It's either that or they have decided that it is good business practice to provide high quality customer service and that they are now aiming to exceed customer expectations in all areas, all of the time. Which one do you think it is?

None of the above. From what I have heard the TT&T service is changing to 3BB throughout Thailand.

I have the TOT 4M service. I haven't been sent any notice about the reduction of rate.

Actually, I think under the TT&T reorganization agreement (they have financial problems), they handed over their previous TT&T internet business unit to 3BB. So, basically 3BB is now the primary (not sole) internet provider on TT&T lines. TT&T continues to provide the basic phone service.

And I think TOT has always been able to provide their TOT internet packages over the TT&T lines/circuits. As additional FYI, I've also seen promotions from other interent service providers (ISP) like JI-NET where the particular internet package available to your residence depends on whether you are on "TOT" or "on TOT with TT&T circuits." Different ISP packages/different prices depending on the phone company you are with. What internet package/ISP you can get on phone company XYZ lines varies from phone company to phone company....and from location to location.

Regarding TOT internet service I can say from my personal experience their service has improved a whole lot from approx 18 months ago. When I was on TOT 2Mb Goldcyber plan the service sucked...I canceled after about 6 weeks and several technician visits. About 15 months later I signed up with TOT again at the same residence on their 4Mb Basic Fit plan and the service has been very good...99.99% reliability...3.5Mb in-Thailand IP/internet surfing speed and 1-2Mb international IP/internet surfing speed...and I can get around 400KB (3.2Mb) download speed when downloading with a download manager like Internet Download Manager.

I live near chiangmai university and my wireless service is worthless. Some mickey mouse company called cyberpoint. Do you know where I can buy this 3bb service and is it better than the cat service I have heard of. thanks

Check out the link below...from the 3BB website...shows places in Chiang Mai where you can sign up for 3BB service. Don't know how good or bad the service is...I'm on a TOT internet package here in Bangkok. Good luck and cheers.

Well I have got to say this - while my 3BB service isn't perfect, and has been down now 3x in 2 months, their customer service is pretty good.

1 - They have my mobile number in the database in their call center. So when I call, they know who I am - no asking for contract number etc. That alone is brilliant.

2 - They call me back! In my dealings with TOT - and there were many - I have been promised a call back, I don't know, dozens of times. Never happened. 3BB calls me back every time.

3 - They fix stuff! In the beginning, I had very slow speeds. The tech talked me through many, many steps setting my modem to do this or that - it took a good 20 minutes but eventually whatever she was doing worked, and my speeds were as promised.

I wish I could share in your celebrations. Here in Phuket it has been nothing but misery and tears with both TT&T/3BB and now TOT. Finally gave up on TT&T/3BB after 2 years of headaches, countless tech visits, and 5 router replacements. And specific to your upgrade experience, I was upgraded to the faster speeds and kept at the same price, instead of, as I would prefer, staying at the speed I signed up at and getting the reduced price.

Now with TOT for a few weeks. My 4mb line is a 0mb line between 4pm and 10pm. The rest of the time it hovers around dial up speeds, with rare bursts of speed just to tease me. One call into the call center after the first few days of mostly down or slow connectivity with promise of a technician call back/visit. No call. Connection speeds seemed to level out around 1.5mbps for a few days which is all I can really hope for. Now for 2 days its back to snails pace if connected at all. And all today the 1177 call center number was busy. Then at 5pmish it's not busy anymore....it's gone entirely. "Sorry..the number you dial no longer exist." <deleted>? Better customer service? No way.
