Suspicious Case of Belgian Suicide Uncovered in Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- A Belgian national has been found dead at his home in Pattaya on Tuesday. The man appeared to have hanged himself, however, despite the presence of a suicide note and several other pieces of evidence police as yet have not ruled out homicide.

Pattaya, the 10th of August 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 8:00pm on Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Klib Inkaew (Banglamung Police Investigator) was notified of a suspected foreign suicide at the Villa Park housing estate in Soi Sukhumvit 67, Banglamung. A team of officers along with medical examiners from the Banglamung hospital were dispatched to the incident to investigate.

Like the guys who jump or those who manage to put a plastic bag over their head and tie a phone cord around their necks - to commit suicide and the Police find it as no suspicious circumstances? Yep if I was deceased from 'suicide' I would be happy to have the BiB checking out my cause - not! ermm.gif

"Reportedly, Mr. Brabandere and his Thai wife had purchased the house over two years ago for an amount of Bt3.8 million. Having recently returned from an overseas trip, Mrs. Sakaew had allegedly gone back to her native province of Surin to visit family, while Mr. De Brabandere remained in Pattaya."

Does anyone see a connection here from the other homicide a few days ago of that english man? same routine, wife goes away and the bad men steps in to do the dirty job

"Investigation of the deceased’s body, found that his head and face was covered by a blue woollen hat, while a black belt had been tightly fastened around his body and his wrists were loosely bound."

Why would somebody wishing to commit suicide would feel the need to do that? i guess we all know the answer....

..there is a perfectly rational explanation for this type of sudden death..many people choose to hatch elaborate plans to confuse the Police or family as to the actual means in which they choose to die. He maybe making a statement or just trying to confuse the issue..I make this observation based on watching the video clip and past experience.

It could have gone like this -

1. Power is off in the home (to prevent neighbour spotting him setting this up..pulled the main fuse and disposed of it. (He could have done it inside ie rope and plank across ceiling man-hole or rope tied to doorknob then slung over the door, so he chose to do it outside). Bearing in mind he is a depressed stae of mind.

2. The so-called 'hat' is of open mesh fabric whic he can easily see through to execute his plan.

3. The rope is strung up and the noose tied.

4. Hat over the head and tapes up the mouth so as he cannot call out whilst in the throws of asphyxiation, because he is going to choke to death. He can still breath through his nose whilst setting this up. (This will be later determined at the autopsy if his hyoid bone is fractured or his cervical spine dislocated.

5. Stands up onto whatever was used to elevate himself. (Can't make out any object in the clip).

6. Places the loosely fitting belt around his waist.

7. Places the noose around his neck.

8. Slides the outer belt up into place over his upper chest area. (So as to stop his involuntary action of reaching for the noose).

9. Loosely binds his hands in front of him.

10. Kicks out whatever he was standing on.

My view for what it's worth based onthe following experience:

I have 14 years experience as a Police officer and have attended hundreds of

Sudden Deaths and Crime Scenes.

I have also had 2 years as a Government Mortuary Contractor and 10 years

experience as a Forensic Pathology Technician and have performed over 3,000

autopsies. (My duties included Crime Scene Investigation)..
