Featured Replies

Not sure if this might be the right forum, but am looking to buy an old Volkswagen bus, Type 2 T1; they call it the "Samba" bus. Any available or know where one can purchase? thanks! See pict.

VW T1 was popular in LOS in the 60-70s, still a few around roadworthy. Very popular now as a mobile bar with lifted roof.

havent seen many T2 around, but plenty of T3 and present Caravelle is popular

Thanks Stingray; as mentioned I am in Chiang Mai but can visit of course. If any pict and details can be send? thanks

There are plenty of them in Thailand.. Trouble is they are popular so not that cheap.. And worse you have the <deleted> who convert them into cocktail bars..

Along the Pattaya bypass between the Railway Station and Siam country club there is a guy who specialises in restoring vans and bugs he always has a few in different stages of repair.

Otherwise check out these sites

Bangkokclassicar.com

Thaiscooter.com

Both have a classified section which can feature VW's for sale.. They are Thai language sites and to see pics on Bangkokclassicar you need to sign up to the forum.. It's easy enough even if you can't read Thai.. Just get your gf/bf or internet cafe staff to help.

There is actually a Local VW shop just next to my mecanic, he restores all the old VW's and buggies as well. It's a Thai guy, he do very excellent restorations. I can get the number of him, if someone is interested.

I can see 2 within a few kms of you in Chiang Mai, but both are the later 1 piece screen models. One looks original at a fair price, the other (incredibly) has an upright 4 cyl Japanese engine in the back!

There is also one in Bangkok on the side road of Chonburi Motorway a km or so past Krungthep Kreeta. Likewise I could get the number.

Hi! Are you still looking for a VW bus? I'm selling mine: 1975 VW Minibus, Type 2. It has it's original 1600cc engine, original steering wheel, and original seats and bolts. Everything is in great condition. The bus drives smoothly. Price: 200,000 THB (negotiable). I live in Chiang Mai. Let me know if you want to take a look - it's quite a beauty!

One the same as in first post just sold at Barrett Jackson LA for $100,000/ TBaht 3,048,000shock1.gif so no more moaning vehicles in Thailand are expensivelaugh.gif

PS the buyer did sell his present car a 2008 Bugatti Veyroncrying.gif so he still has $600,000 towards running costsrolleyes.gif.
