Hello Everyone.

I have an Indian Passport and my second Non-Immigrant Visa"o" Single entry valid for 3 months was issued at Calcutta (India) apprx 3 years back.

I have been extending my stay in Thailand from the Immigration office in Chiang mai

for the last 2 years now. My third year finishes soon.It has not been a problem.

My wife's an Indian by origin but is a thai citizen so technically she is thai.My marriage was registered in the thai embassy in India as well as in thailand. I have invested in 2 business of which i have work permits.

I have not left thai soil for 2 years but now my work will make me move to India, singapore etc more often.

Coming to my query.

My permit to stay in the country expires on the 10 aug,05. and I had looked into 2 options of getting my 1 year multiple entry visa.

The first option being that I would fly to bangkok and get a tourist visa for malaysia then carry on to penag and apply for an Non-Immigrant multiple entry visa validity being a year, To which I am being told that Citizens of India are not eligible to get such a visa from Penag or any other country other then thier own.IS THIS TRUE??

Sadly if this is true the other option that I have

I fly back to india. Get a non immigrant multiple entry visa for a year and come back.

As far as my I am aware when I do come back with a non-imm muti entry visa I will still be given a permit to stay for 90 days. My question here is I live Chiang mai Can i go to the Mesai border every 90 days to get an entry. Keep in mind i have an Indian passport. Or do I have to go back to India every 90 days????

The reason I do not want to get my extension from Chiang mai itself is they just dont give multiple entry visa's or atleast they did not give it to me.

Please help as time is running out.

Thanks in advance

Mac.

You can not obtain a multiple entry Non-Immigrant visa in India. They will give you a single entry which you can extend in Thailand. It's not an easy task for people from the SE sub-continent.

Can Mac not get an O visa extension based on marriage to a Thai? And would that not be more flexible in permitting comimg and going? I don't know, but thought I'd bring this up.

What happens to Mac if he has a one year extension and he goes out 3 or 4 times a year? Does he need a new visa each entry or even just a new 1 year extension each time, once he is back in?

This brings up a question from my side. If an American is in Thailand on an O visa for retirement or work permit, can he/she not come an go during that year? :o

To some extent you are right. But my father in law has a non-immigrant multiple entry which he got from India. My Brother also has the same. In India I am sorry to say It matters a lot as to who you know if you get what I mean, So Getting a non-immigrant multiple in India is the least of my worries.

Your family must have extremely good paper work. Congratulations!

Where was the multiple visa issued in India?

The Visa is "o" and it was issued in Delhi. Please advise me how to go about it after I arrive in bangkok from delhi.

I do know that I will get a 90 day permit to stay at bkk. Can I go to mesai after the 90 days expire as it will be closer from Chiang mai.

Thanks

I don't believe you. :o

This is the first report that the Royal Thai Consulate in Delhi has issued a multiple entry. Is it a sticker or a stamp?

If you obtain a visa to Myanmar, you can enter Burma (Myanmar), and re-enter Thailand with your multiple entry visa and get another 90 days.

Ifvit is a single entry you can not re-enter the Kingdom. Not sure if Mae Sai can issue you a 15 days on-arrival-stamp. Just forget it, IMHO.

Unbelievable!

What does the sticker says about: "NO OF ENTRY"?

How many months after issue date does it expire? "DATE OF EXPIRY"?

(Look at the sticker)

Continue to extend your stay as you have for the past two years. You can still travel. All you need to do is obtain a re-entry permit from Immigration at a cost of 3,800 baht for multi entry type and it will cover any and all travel until the next extension time.

Or do you have a problem with not being able to meet extension of stay requirements this year? Sorry if I have misread but it seems as if you are seeking a multi entry O visa when you do not need one.

That would appear to of been the sensible way to do things.

No! I had applied for "B" I guess its easier to get a work permit on a "B".

You say that you already have workpermit and have already extended your stay for last 2 years then why in this world you just extend your stay once more this year and get a multiple re entry permit?

Anyways congrats. for you getting a NON B multiple from Kolkata. But I think it's not a wise idea to use this multiple entry one comparing to the extension of stay (1 year one) which u have been doing since last 2 years as it will make you eligible for Permanent Residence in long term whereas this multiple entry one will spoil your chance for PR.Or you've already expired your 2 year extended visa by not getting a re entry permit when you left for India? If so,then your this NON B muliple entry is the only way.
