Hi

Can anyone with experience give me a pointer on this.

I have set up a paypal account successfully using a Kasikorn account with permission for internet banking ecommerce (shopping cart etc). Basically a standard account and tell them you want to use it online. Includes debit card. I am UK native

I am now trying to open an E-Bay account. I have been assured by a local farang with years of experience it is possible using the same Kasikorn account. Upon trying it will not authorise the card. When I questioned the online system, they said - Can only register with a Credit Card within Thailand.

Be happy to here any extra feedback. Not interested to hear about registering from UK account etc. Just want to figure out about this locally.

Thanks

Hi you don't use the debit card, you need to go back to the bank and ask for a K-web shopping card, this is a virtual (non physical) Visa card...

They will ask you for your email address, and with 24 hours they will set it up. They will email you a link and a password. Go to kasikorn website and get into the internet banking link and on the left of the screen you will have options.. choose 'K-web card' option, this will open up a menu with a few more specific options. Click 'view card details' This will display all the info you want... the card is registered as a Visa credit card, and is good for a certain preset amount of usage.. the default being 100,000 baht, but i think you can change this limit to whatever.

It is also great for being able to change the number any time you wish... if ebay boots you off for selling fake footy shirts for instance... you can register another ebay account in minutes after you change the credit card details.. i think there is a charge of 100 baht for changing the number (but don't quote me).

To do this, you just click 'cancel card', and then click on create new bank card, and in 24 hours you will have a new card with totally different card details.

I hope this has been helpful.

Very helpful thanks

I have figured out a bit of that since. The card I have has internet facility. I just found updated to that virtual online debit card facility and changed the address they hold to English script instead of Thai.

So far so good - try again tomorrow once the server updates

Thanks again....

Everything is working well now

just have 1 more question

with K-Web Shopping Card. I am using a site called I-Offer also. the arrangement there says the card should have Verified by Visa for extra security. Is this required. I know it is normally required, but I am unclear about the K-Web system

Thanks

This is the answer to my own question if it of any use to anyone

This is the info that I got from Kasikorn. I haven't tried it myself yet as I haven't had any problems using the K-Web card . Let us know if it works.

Enter the link to

apply Verified by VISA (for Web card) <https://rt03.kasikornbank.com/eweb/enroll.aspx>

-Fill in the online secured form with your credit card number or Web card number and details as required.

-Specify your own Personal Assurance Message (PAM)** and password.

-Specify your reset password question and enter your e-mail address to receive information about benefits and marketing activities from KASIKORNBANK.

-You can use your Verified by Visa password immediately after registration.

** Personal Assurance Message (PAM) is the message that you specify during registration and will be appeared on the website while you are making online transaction to ensure that online shop is a Visa-authorized merchant.
