There are many pages of instructions of how to convert a SIM to a micro SIM online. Basically, you cut off the cardboard / plastic surrounding the chip. Google for the instructions.

I have just successfully converted an AT&T SIM card to micro SIM size so I wanted to point out some caveats and surprises I encountered along the way:

- The contacts on the SIM look totally different from the micro SIM

- The contacts on the SIM are way bigger than the ones on the micro SIM, too - I previously thought these were the same thing, except for the extra plastic surrounding the chip - not so. The chip is the same but the golden stuff that you see on one side are the contacts for the chip, and they are very different. Even different sizes.

So I just gave it my best shot, and cut off plastic on 3 sides of the SIM to make it match my micro SIM from True. I started out with rulers and masks, but eventually just took some scissors and went by eye only.

The exacto knife seemed like a good idea, but wasn't strong enough to cut the tough plastic AT&T uses on their SIMs. Scissors worked much better.

Made it approx. the same size and shape, then it wouldn't fit, so I started cutting off more and more. At one point I even cut off a tiny bit on the right side of the contact area, e.g. the golden stuff.

I ended up with a SIM that was a bit too small vertically, but tried it anyway, and, to my great surprise, it worked!

i have all my numbers in windows contacts. I just went to ais in paragon and they exchanged my sim for the micro sim free. about 10 minutes of computer work on their side. worked great, synced my phone and all good

I did that too, both True and DTAC exchanged micro SIMs within 5 minutes.

But not in America. In the USA, you have to get the scissors out! AT&T... it sucks, truly (I also have no reception in the middle of San Francisco, it's pretty amazing)
