Toyota recalls 100,000 HiLux utes across Australia

"In all, 116,000 HiLux four-wheel drives, built in Thailand from January 2005 to February 2010, are involved in the recall."

Wondering if this will effect Toyota Hilux's & Fortuna's made in Thailand within Thailand as I have not been notified by Toyota about this.

The reports say the recall only affects the Oz hilux's. NZ ones won't be recalled. Appears Oz road conditions are to blame.

Toyota has announced a safety recall of more than 116,000 HiLux vehicles across Australia but the recall won't affect New Zealand vehicles.

Severe corrugations on unsealed roads and constant crossings of cattle grids could promote the problem.

The recall related to conditions on Australian roads only and did not relate to any other country, Toyota New Zealand general manager Paul Carroll told NZPA.

They will probably say the Export vehicles are DIFFERENT

well, OZ and LOS hilux are different on approx 2000 parts.

and late 2004 and early 2005 LOS hiluxes have already had a quiet recall in early 2006, by phone to LOS owners or on scheduled10k km / 6 months checks/services. didnt affect OZ spec vehicles

Yes I read the report in the Sydney Morning Herald motoring section, thought about posting it here because it contained some nice piccys of Hi -lux's for Transam to drool over!!.

Driving fast over cattle grids one possible cause, so we are all ok in Thailand as I have not seen one here yet.

Report said it was the latest 2010 Hilux 4 x 4, second most popular Ute in Oz, after the Holden Commodore -(real tonka)

Would you think my Vigo 4x4 auto Nov 2005 4D4 would have been sorted I had my first service in June 2006. :whistling:

Mrs. said she never had phone calls ever, until 3year warranty was neally finished.

Oh ! well, I suppose if my back prop drops off :o you put in four wheel drive. :D

Yes I would think its sorted. Vigo in LOS is supposed to be serviced by Toyota every 6 months/10k km, and I believe they only called those skipping services in 2005 and 2006.

Toyota have phoned twice in the last fortnight to remind me of the first 10,000 km / six month service due on my Prerunner in 3 months time; maybe there is a "Thai recall" in progress.

Well, that will teach y'all. Next time buy a Nissan! :whistling:

But with those, l hear, you must carry a handbook at all times and blow up your own air bag, mind you l like the trap door idea for heavy braking too stick your feet through the floor to dig your heels in.

At least it has some airbags!.

Looking at something called a Prerunner Exclusive last week in our hyper Tesco! and it was priced at 714K.

I thought that was a good price for a Toyota pick up, and the chappie on the stand said - " no air bags/no ABS" - "Just put a few more Bhudda's on the dashboard".

Thats Toyota - safety first

Yes, If you want to skimp on things, the price can come down. BUT, with the Toyota you get the CHOICE to skimp on things. :D

What - like a decent accelerator?! :whistling:

Yup, that's a strange choice: rear TV camera but only a "look alike" airbag-steering wheel.

everyone is supplying what the market want. choosing Toyota you at least have a choise of higher spec. DMax you get tiny 3 sensor ABS brakes on all models, even those with camera,TV, leather and red instruments

Debateable, Toyota still will not put an auto gear box in a Prerunner two wheel drive -even if you ask them nicely::rolleyes:

Why do you keep harping on about brakes, rear drums are fine by me,

Do not live in Germany anymore so bombing along the bahn at 200+ is not happening anymore.

Nice leisurely braking is what its all about, no need to spill the Leo.

Don't know what you mean by that,

.

Vigos leave Nissins like there going backwards, even the 3.2 Mish is not much of a match.

Its Nissan you numpty!. I doubt very many trucks will leave the bog standard 174ps 4x4 Navara standing! and certainly not

my 4 x 2 King Cab with its 200 + ponies under the bonnet. ( Courtesy of a nice little tuning outfit at Spa Francor plus many thanks to my boy for bringing it over)

I have given up with Vigo's. Its the Thai driven Fortuners that I like to see in the rear view mirror at the lights, albeit in an ever increasing cloud of black exhaust smoke, as I have been advised not to use B5 anymore::(

Here is some Toyota recall info for you, not Thailand but it highlights their ongoing safety issues.! and something educational for Trans to read.

I am trying to get him off replying to the " why did you marry a knife wielding bar girl threads), best to stick to motoring!
