May I ask what you agree about the Catholic Church?

That poverty in S.A and Philly is down to the Church and contraception, please tell me you didn't mean that?

That is what I agreed with.

NOT allowing the simplest method of limiting family size.

People unable to make ends meet.

Born and bred a catholic.

Once I left school....having to go to Xtian Bros college....

NO MORE. ..... catholicism, any religion for that matter.

Are you stating that the non use of contraception can be justified in this statement.

considering that the Catholic church screwed up more countries and more people than most other religions combined.

Did you not read the Bears post? I hope I misunderstood your post.

Moss, did you ever hear people saying that 2 wrongs don't make a right ?. Ill spell it out for you just because someone else in an other part of the world also limits the use of anti conception does not make it a good practice.

The availability of contraception is not in question.

The problem is, fear, being condemned for using it.

The catholic church forbids the use.

That is where nature takes over, over population with the largest families the poorest.

YES, the catholic church has stuffed up many countries.

Religion is not a problem, it's the administraters... the pope, the bishops and all those under them, they are the problem.

My grape shot theory belongs entirely on the theory that one bad apple doesn't always ruin the whole barrel, give me a % of Clergy abusers and extrapolate that throughout the Catholic Family.

Are you suggesting that std's are as prevalent within the Catholic faith as are those within certain areas of Asia and Africa?

I know many Catholic girls and they choose not to follow certain doctrine laid down by the hierarchy, does that lessen them in any way, everybody has a choice.

I still need to read up on the Catholic Church/Nazism.

Spanish Inquisition and burning at the stake, why not bring up the Earl of Pembroke's massacre of Irish citizens in the 12C it has as much relevance.

Lets just remember the central theme of this thread, apart from its beginnings of course,

considering that the Catholic church screwed up more countries and more people than most other religions combined.

I still see little evidence that can justify such a statement.

So China, the former Soviet block and India are Catholic?

As stated previously, I see no fear in young Irish Catholics using contraception.

So contraception in your view from this and previous posts elevates Catholocism to the unholy deeds that it has messed up more countries and people than all Religions put together?

Considering that I've never hid my name behind a pseudonym, and I've posted photos of myself in various silly outfits (or lack of them), it's little wonder that people recognize me. I don't have anything to hide and I'll debate any subject with anyone. I'll even admit when I'm wrong... if someone can prove that it's so.

How can i give you a percentage as it is so well hidden and bought off by the church. It is sufficient to say it happens a lot and the higher echelons in the church hide it at all cost. This has been documented and cant be rebutted.

It also clear that it happens more inside the church percentage wise then with normal people. It has something to do with the repressed sexuality in the church.

There is no data on your claims it is any less, but there is data on the fact that overpopulation kills. We all agree that overpopulation is bad and keeps countries down and poor. Then the fact that the church promotes overpopulation just so it has more followers thus more power is ethically not sound.

Also a pope saying that pedophiles are sick and therefor not responsible for their actions and by this the church not responsible (does not have to pay out). While it was the church that put those people in power over children and gave them authority is questionable at best. If the church was open and punished the offenders instead of moving them around in silence without them doing jail time that would show they cared. Now the bigger masses of the church protect the wrongdoers instead of crying out for the church to be honest and purge their priests they keep silent. A lot of good that does so yes.. many of the church are guilty by accepting it and accepting and some even help the church to hide it. Normal offenders get caught and go to jail.. nobody opposes that... but the church .......

I never linked STD's to the church I like overpopulation that causes poverty and death. That is a much bigger problem and the STD issue is a red herring. One could say someone using a condom is less likely to get a STD and so less likely to get killed by aids.

How the church acted in the past, you might not think its valid but it does bear to the character of the church. To do everything to hang to power and viciously lash out to anyone who does not agree. True the church now is better as then but still its religion holds back free thinkers. How can any scientist even consider creation instead of evolution. (but lets not get drawn into that)

As for the Nazism claims the pictures say enough.. the church just did nothing and morally supported the Nazi's just to stay in power. The Christians never much liked the Jews... so who knows. Or they will claim "wir haben es nicht gewust (we did not know). I am also sure that there are instances to be found of good priests in Germany helping Jews. But the church never publicly denounced Nazism in Germany.

Thanks for discussing it Mossfinn without going crazy. I am amazed i haven't burned on the stake here in Thaivisa for this.

That's because it's in Bedlam, and we don't do that here.

I was an altar boy. Good gig. The funerals paid better than weddings. I did better in tips than most because I could look very sad.

I don’t know why but the priests never came on to me. Not like I didn’t flaunt it.

It wasn’t till later in life that I developed a nun fetish. There was this place in San Francisco that catered to nun fetishes and well I should probably drop that subject.

Once the mother superior of the local girls catholic high school banned the entire student body from going out with me. Oh those were good times.

Aside from the Catholic Church being one of the great evils of all times personally I had a lot of fun during my 12 years of Catholic education. I never had sex with a member of the clergy either male or female.

I have only met one English guy in a bar in Pattaya who ever did a nun. I was always envious.

But I do owe a great debt to the Catholic religious upbringing to all the kinky girls I met in my teens.

I think one of the reasons I really love Thailand is the college girl plaid uniforms and knee socks and lollypop panties that one still sees so frequently here.

I think Thad has summed it up perfectly and partly why I wanted it left in Bedlam proper rather than OTB, hopefully it has served its principle purpose of trying to stop outrageous comments that cannot be justified or debated on Merit.

However, now Mark is here it is time for other business.
