Pattaya Teen Dies in Accidental Pen-Gun Shooting to the Face

A 17-year-old boy has died on Tuesday evening, after being rushed to hospital having shot himself in the face with an illegal pen-gun, according to witness accounts.

Pattaya, the 28th of September 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 8:30pm on Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Nitipoom Bootwong (Banglamung Police Investigator) was notified by the Banglamung Hospital of the admission of a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. A team of officers were dispatched to investigate.

At the scene, in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Banglamung Hospital, officer found the now deceased body of Mr. Sutthisak Yothapan [17]. Doctor’s explained that Mr. Yothapan had been admitted to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the face, dying before police attended the scene. The projectile had become lodged in his brain after having entered through the right side of his nose.

Clearly another Darwin Award winner.

Of course his friend never mentioned the gun was loaded.

Nor did the young fool think of that himself.

RIP and come back as something a bit less sentient.

Was it a .22 hollow point ?

I think a hollow point bullet is one that explodes on impact causing very serious internal injuries.

RIP to this chap, but these pen guns are very dangerous and unreliable, and who knows who else would have taken that bullet had he not done so.

17 year old Pattaya boy shoots himself in the face with a Pen Gun

PATTAYA: -- A 17 year old boy died on Tuesday Night after he accidentally shot himself in the face with a Pen Gun. The incident occurred at a house in the Takiendier area, North of Pattaya, at the home of the victim. A friend, Khun Grisana aged 21 was in possession of a loaded Pen Gun and the victim wanted to inspect the weapon. As he took possession of the weapon, the boy allegedly expelled the weapon close to his face.
