Personally, I don't like the points thingy. Some might post differently and some maybe even intimidated if the colours are shown.

I think that most who contribute regularly can read between the lines anyway.

One should post/reply on face value and judge every post as it comes.

What about the colour blind, have they been taken into consideration !?

Hear hear!!

For those who love the idea of an infantile 'points system', feel free to go across to the 'dark side'. :)

Only if I can have a tennis letterman jacket icon also with a photo of my high school girlfriend (hotter than my wife) included under my username. I miss being popular too.

I was entirely unaware of this 'points' system until this thread!

It has to be a great idea. Anyone who is in the red is at least not a conformist, and therefore might be worth listening to. Granted, not always the case, but got to be more interesting than those with lots of green 'brownie' points.

Obviously, its discriminatory against farang women who are generally more honest than farang men (and farang men who have the nerve to say anything negative about living here), but as I said before, that's why it would at least give us all a clue as to those who are honest rather than wanabee Thais!

I guess if I forward this post to your wife you will be instantly popular already. :D

If it's about 'votes', just look at what happened in a certain country when the 'boss' said 'They did it. They are evil'. An overwhelming amount of 'nonthinkers' simply believed in him.

This is not too difficult to understand;

If the 'public' are docile sheep, a system that supports & maintains this, will work well. 'Popularity' will always preside over 'thinking'...unless the powers that be allow 'thinking' & not 'popularity'. It's politics pure & simple.

It reminds me a little of the way the Thai government treat their people.

It's quite good to know who is an arse and who isn't.

This gives the new people a chance to sum up the 'old grumpy' posters who love to vilify everyone else at every opportunity.

I certainly don't run with the crowd, and was a bit surprised at my rating.

But if I am an arse, let everyone see it clearly!

You're not an arse - just honest. Something that lots of posters don't want to face....

So, a 'reputation' system will tell you whether you are an 'arse' or not?

Believe me, when people post or not post according to this inane reputation system, the standard of posts will drop significantly.

don't you give out any green or red yourself Jingting ?

perhaps you just don't like the fact many on this forum do not agree with you

and give a red for just that , I know you don't give a toss , but it seems you are getting a bit cranky , just let it be .

Well thankyou F1!

Please point out some posts where a member has raved on about how they loooove the point system. Most of us can take it or leave it, but it is an easy way to express how we feel about a particular post. :whistling:

^ or a less eloquent way to express how we feel about a particular post.

It doesn't bother me either way and I fail to see why the OP's panties are repeatedly showing on this non-issue but, if it does reduce the passing of opinions to a simple red or green, then I agree that may not only dilute the already questionable quality of debate but also the more important depth of factual information in these pages. At the same time, this will also make the long-winded, self-opinionated and utterly boring diatribes that evolve when some members find the pound has tanked overnight (again) or that Aeon ATM's have started charging 150 baht like all the rest (they haven't)stick out like the proverbial... well, you get my point.

I just can't see the point. TV is a forum to express our views - why put in recommend/don't recommend flags?

We might not agree with a poster, but that's the point of the forum. Isn't it??

The vote is tightening up ...

What with 41 votes! Oh my how the people of TV have spoken out. There will be people on the streets next. 15 Yes, 10 No and 16 couldn't care less. As tight as a bears Ass. Seems couldn't care less will take it.

Not really a large polling sample from such a large membership is it, which probably indicates...couldn't care less.

No, it's to make money.

No longer possible to give out reds as of today...

The majority vote for it, so the forum disables red votes ....... why?

Makes the whole thing pointless as everyone will accumulate some greens over the years, even if they are an arse!

Makes me think the 'old grumpy' posters are considered more important to ThaiVisa than the newer members.

Admin says

Jingthing doesn't like it, we must obey :jap:

Well, actually Jingthing was trying to accumulate reds so in fact this goes against what he likes.

You fell for it! The sites number 1 attention seeker would weep silently over any red. I am not surprised the admin do whatever he wants, his post count is so high he is worth money to them just in the hit rates he knocks up from personal activity.

Ho hum, another day in paradise.

I watched a show on telly the other night. It was about a spine surgeon working on children in desperate need of help with bad cases of scoliosis. I realised that the surgeon was spending his time wisely; he was dealing with the important issues in life.

However, all of this pales to utter insignificance in comparison with this matter. I am seriously concerned with this. Really.

Yup, it is of paramount importance and no longer currently available so the conversation is no longer pertinent.
