Beach Beds/Brollies

Hi, apart from the busy area around the Hilton. are there any other accessable areas on the beach where it is possible to rent a beach bed and brolly. The last time we were in hua hin which is some years ago we did try (on recommendation) the beach the other side of the monkey mountain (Khao Takiab?) but the beach was dirty and there was brown froth entering the sea from the small river that joins the sea here. There seemed to be some nice stretches of beach with loungers but they all seemed to be private hotel owned.

If you access the Hilton beach turn right and walk along until you come to the ramshackle beach bar with all the flags. They have numerous beach beds etc and the food is good.

We use the beach at Khao takiab and find it to be generally clean and tidy. If you access this beach from the main access, turn left and walk about 50m. There is a nice hotel there with a terrace and beach beds on the beach. The beds are free as long as you order your drinks from the hotel. Prices are reasonable and worth paying as the hotel toilets are spotless and available for customers use.

Thanks DDIM - when you say Khao Takiab beach coming from Hua Hin is that before or after the mountain and is it possible to get the cheap transport that I understand runs regaularly from Hua hin south.

I think DDIM is talking about after, or south of the mountain. That is our favorite beach area too and is usually cleaner and nicer than the main Hua Hin beach.

As for transport, if you stand at the curb on Phetkasem road south of the main traffic light you will see a lime green covered pickup truck with a yellow stripe down the side come by about every 20 minutes. Those are the baht buses and they run from downtown Hua Hin to near Takiab Mountain and back all day at 10 baht per person per ride. Just wave to them and they will stop. Hop in and pay the driver when you get out. There is a buzzer button to push when you want them to stop and let you out, but the stop in Takiab near the mountain is the end of the line. You'll still have to walk a couple of kilometers to get to the beach on the south side of the mountain but they will take you there for a little extra. You may have to walk back to the bus stop though.

It is the beach south of monkey mountain as hhfarang has stated.

If you get off the baht bus at the bus station in Khao Takiab walk in the general direction of the big white temple. Continue along this road (bypassing the temple)and you will come to a number of buildings, one of which (from memory) is about 4 floors high and is painted blue. Turn left at this building and follow the narrow road down to the beach.

Turn left at this point and the previously mentioned beach beds are about 50m along the beach. There are other beach beds available prior to reaching the hotel beds.

Hi

Takiab, go to Anantasilla Hotel, well sign posted, walk past the entrance untill you get to the beach, about 100m, nice beach loads of sunbeds and restaurants to cater for all your requirments.

Jet Skis etc, can spend all day, sleeping and eating and drinking.

Thanks, Takiab sounds great/ Went to the south side of the mountain few years ago and there was horrible brown foam entering the sea from the river at the end of the beach. Obviously polluted. Put us right off but there again it was 5 years ago and may have been cleaned up.
