This is an experiment again to see my technical abilities are sufficient to move a photo into this topic.

Anyhow, if it might work: The photo depicts Loeng Wow, who might be the oldest expat of Chiang Rai. He is going to be 78 in a couple of months.

He worked in Thailand for many years and retired in Chiang Rai.

Wow, really great pictures Ivan!

I would guess Mae Fah Luang district. Isn't it the Mae Fah Luang Pagoda on the last picture? After Santikiri (Doi Mae Salong) to the right?

Thanks!

Ivan and Flupke,

These photos are just great, and Flupke I like the bike!

Makes me want to return to Thailand and once again revisit Chiang Rai, a city I was last in in 1997!

1) A wellknown swimmingpool in Chiang Rai (80 Baht), mostly frequented by expats with children, especially on Sundays. Yesterday three Englishmen, two Dutchmen and one Irishman.

And everybody knew eachother. Pleasant atmosphere and the kids played together!

2) Khun Pong, the wife of one of the most omnipresent expats of Chiang Rai at the same pool, some moments before changing to her swimminggear.

3) A teaplantation at the border with Burma, north-east of Thoed Thai.

Limbo will recognize most of these (which I was a little slow getting up)

from the western edge of Amphoe MaeFaLuang and just north of the border

as files, they have titles, which don't show. Anyone want to suggest how best to add titles?

Yes Joel, I did for sure!

Concerning the titles:

I start by putting the pictures in the posting and then I push the preview button.

Then I write the text and at the end everything miraculously comes together.

By the way, do you remember the succesful bussdriver in Nan?

Preview button... hmmm... didn't even see an edit button so I guess the photos will remain captionless for now.

Is "Samran" (translates as 'happy', I discovered eons ago, when I 'knew' a girl of that name) the successful bus-driver and author of "She", also the moderator of the Thai language 'thread' here on Thailand forum?

As some Quakers, at least the liberal ones, used to sing, "'Tis a gift to be simple..."

Nice pix, thanks for sharing. :D

Love the orthopaedic boots..... I thought they were buried at the turn of the century. :D

They came above earth again during an excavation at one of our archeological sites and became tremendous popular in Chiang Rai. I am thinking about getting a pair myself, though I am not sure if they have my size :D .

Yes Tayto, great pictures indeed. I didn't go and look this time because of three possible reasons, of which only one happens to be true:

1) I forgot that the candle procession is held this particular day.

2) I went there last year.

3) I expected you to show us some pictures of it.

Thanks!

A comparable saying I was told has different wordings:

'Old buffaloes like green leafs'

I think it assumes to warn the young girl. To warn the old buffalo there is another one:

'Be aware of the elephant, the snake and the yound girl.

'The elephant sits on you, the snake bites you and the young girl cheats you'
