Ram Issue

Featured Replies

It seems every month or so the RAM in my desk tops needs re installing. Example I use my computer daily and before going to work for 4 weeks I shut it down and unplug everything. I come home 4 weeks later and the computer doesn't work. So I open it up remove the RAM and reinstall it and its fine again. Same thing happens to my children's computer in the living room I have to take out the RAM and put it back and it works again.

Has this happen to any TV'ers if so is there a solution so i don't have to do it so often?

Do you clean the contacts on the RAM before replacing?

An India rubber (eraser) is a good tool for the purpose.

A spray can of switch cleaner, from the local electronics shop

will clean in the sockets.

I had a similar problem with one of my desktops. Turned out one of my RAM stick were bad.

Would not show up in any memory checker, seems like whenever the computer would boot, it would also pass the two different memory checkers I'd run.

However trial and error removing memory sticks, came up with the faulty one.

And it's been stable as a rock since I removed it.

Quite the coincidence though, if would have a bad stick in both yours and your kids machines.

Might still be worth a try though.
