Wikileaks Inadvertantly Justifies Extended Us Stay In Iraq

As for Washington; it is totally another story. It is not just about doing the right thing. Its image, which President Barack Obama says he wants to improve, has taken another significant beating. It is difficult to see how this can be rectified. But the first step is to prosecute the officials and generals responsible for the war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Certainly, Obama knows their names very well.

Any American living abroad can tell you that the USA's image isn't really an issue for me. I'd say it's so low that I don't really care what other countries think anymore. I'm not talking only about the wars, but also the financial situation, crazy lawsuits, etc. Obama certainly doesn't care about America's image. If he does, I'd love to hear some examples of how.

Do all Americans living abroad know you so well?

:whistling:

If there is such a consesus by non-Americans, why do you not ever consider that the rest of the world may have a point, and why do you continue to defend the global arrogance of the US?

"Earlier on Tuesday in Baghdad, a top Pentagon official said the U.S. Defense Department was considering controls like those that credit card firms use to detect odd behavior to prevent leaks of sensitive information.

"Rather than preventing people from having access to the data, could we do things like credit card companies do, which is to look for anomalous behavior," Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn told reporters during a brief visit to Iraq.

"If someone is doing something that doesn't seem appropriate for where they are, downloading 100,000 documents when they are out in some obscure corner of the country, why are they doing that? You go out and ask them," Lynn said."

brilliant idea! ;)

Or.......just don't allow anything that could be embarrassing later to ever occur!

It is not a consensus of non-Americans. It is a consensus of the liberal-left mass-media who very few people trust or have much use for. :bah:

Proof please.

If I would prove what I stated, would you investigate my claims or just think I am another loony that states things that do not confirm with your believes and never check the links I provide?

You are really a bit of an odd person UG, I wonder if you have a partner that likes you when these kind of things come up in a discussion.

:D

I have checked many of your links, but found almost none that were not either conspiracy theories based on someone's vivid imagination or easily proved wrong.

As far as friends go, I guarantee you that I have at least as many as you do. ;)

That sentence is an example of making changes on the run without one last read through. :D

Putting aside the fact that I messed that sentence up when I was in a hurry, Americans have more in common with each other than the "rest of the world" has in common with each other. You call is "global arrogance", I don't. I could walk around the streets of Samui or some countries in Europe where it is clear that the Brits are the most arrogant. In other circles it's the French, or Russians, Emiratis, etc. I bet the Tikriti Iraqis were very arrogant until about 7 years ago. For the most part, countries who are proud of not being arrogant don't usually have anything to be arrogant about in the first place.

Hi UG, I really would like you to read the book: Confessions of an economic hitman.

You can buy it in some of the bookstores to help the guy that wrote it, or look for a torrent.

This is the story of a guy that was secretly employed and trained by the CIA, he worked for Bechtel if I remember well.

He lays out how the US tries and succeed to force countries into debt they cannot ever pay back and in return those countries have to give up their natural resources to US private companies.

Just read it OK, and you will have a better understanding what is really going on.

I didn't read it but I did read reviews online.

I think that I have it in stock. I'll check it out.

OK, let's start with one fact and the rest I will show step by step once you acknowledge.

Granting some foreign contractors immunity from Iraqi law

Two days before he left Iraq, Bremer signed "Order 17"[50] giving all staff associated with the CPA and the American government immunity from Iraqi law. One of his former top aides is quoted as saying, “we wanted to make sure our military, civilians and contractors were protected from Iraqi law.”[51] This stipulation was later incorporated into Iraqi law.[52]

Since then, violent events in Iraq involving American security companies such as Blackwater have resulted in great resentment among Iraqis, who view them as private armies acting with impunity on their soil.[53][54][55][56]

From here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L._Paul_Bremer

Do you have some sort of point?

Yes and I will guide you through this step by step.

Di you deny this fact?

I have not investigated it, but I don't really care about it, if that helps. :D

That is fine UG, you just admitted you do not care about anything other then your own believes.

Therefore your presence in here is meaningless.

:)
