Beware Of Botnets, Do An Anti-Botnet Scan

Featured Replies

I am not affliated or so but mention this software because far most people are still not aware of the risk of botnets.

A botnet (a contraction of the term "Robot network") is a computer network made up of a vast number of compromised computers that have been infected with malicious code, and can be remotely-controlled through commands sent via the Internet. Typically, users whose computers have been conscripted into a botnet are unaware that their computers have been compromised. (until e.g. they are missing money from their bank account)

Monitor your computer for potential infection and suspicious activities associated with Bots. Upon discovering a potential infection, RUBotted prompts you to scan and clean your computer.

RUBotted is still BETA and therefor free.

Thanks for the info, my two security programmes do not mention these on their help files. downloaded that programme just to check.

Just be careful... there are lots of phony, rough programs that tells you they will solve problems for you and it turns out they install something you don't need.... to find out what is what is not really possible unless the sources are open for public review....

Agree yes, but the mentioned program is connected to TrendWatch, not the first the best.

You have any examples of/ experiences with phony programs ? With UniBlue products it's like they don't do anything, they all have impressing animated graphs but I wonder if it's not just complete fake...

I agree that TrendMicro is probably a serious company that is trying hard to keep their programmers under the magnifier.

I'm quite careful with these things... privately I don't use proprietary software much.

At work I have a huge organization making sure we all run the same malware... whistling.gif and yes it has paid off... only twice since 2002 have our entire population of windows boxes gone down the drain bringing the activities to a complete halt.

In this forum and other places, there are lots of horror stories, for example about the "security tool" malware not long time ago...
