Kwiz, try some of the employment agencies online, ie Seek, CareerOne, etc, most of these are connected to OZ newspapers online, try that angle.

Jobs and accomodation are not the issue, there area a good assortment in most cities.

Where are you from?

What passport/visa do you have?

What checkable qualifications do you have?

Are you prepared to work in "regional Australia"?

These will have more impact on your getting a job.

If you are under 25(?) and from the list of approved countries you may be elligable for a working holliday visa.

If not you are looking at a long hard road if your potential employer is not prepared to sponsor you..

A lot more information needed to give better advice.

Thanks,

I already browsed the websites that you have mentioned. Under each vacancy, they have clearly stated to apply only with proper VISA. Same with recruitment companies like Heys, Robert Walters etc. Too bad. :o

If you know any small time recruitment companies or small time accounting firms, located in regional Australia, please let me know. I feel that could be a worth segment for me to try.

For IT - JobServe has quite a few Australian jobs, although, unless it says they'll handle relocation, you need a visa first. (catch 22)

kwiz,

have you looked at http://www.immi.gov.au/migration/skilled/ ?

I think that you need the visa before applying for the jobs.

If you want to apply to live permanently in Australia under one of the General Skilled Migration visa categories you will need to meet all of the following basic requirements:

you must be under 45 years of age at the time you apply (unless you have been invited to apply for a General Skilled Migration visa)

your occupation must be listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)

an organisation in Australia, known as the relevant assessing authority, must assess your skills as being suitable for this occupation

you must have a high level of English

you must have recent skilled work experience or have recently completed an Australian qualification as the result of two years full-time study in Australia.

If you don't meet all of the above requirements, you should not apply for a General Skilled Migration visa. There may be other skilled visa options that better suit you.

Tiz,

if the OP has had his skills already assesed by the Australian regulating body, then my guess is he is already well down the path to getting an Australian migration visa, as this is a compulsory part of the process.

Everything you have mentioned is fine and well set to submit the forms. But this process can take a long time.

If I am lucky enough to find a company who is interested in my skills and provide me a job offer (My guess is, they may not ask the company to sponsor me as I already have a sponsor), then I will be able to accelerate the process and also will be lucky enough to work from the day 1.

Whatever it is, we are definitely going to migrate either under skilled or some other category next year. Not going to waste my time here anymore. :o
