The Boy Brimming With Pride, The Fanatics Burning With Hate...Two Faces Of Armistice Day

Featured Replies

He was 3ft tall in his shiny black shoes and he wore his great-uncle’s medals with pride as he stood to attention in the rain.

Jonny Osborne, seven, symbolised the face of a new generation yesterday as he marched shoulder to shoulder with servicemen and women to honour those killed by war.

But three miles across London from the Armistice Day ceremony at the Cenotaph, another face of Britain was on display. It was contorted with hatred, poisoned by politics, and fuelled by flames from a giant, burning poppy.

These were the Muslim extremists who brought shame to the memory of the dead yesterday by breaking the traditional two-minute silence with chants of ‘British soldiers burn in hel_l’.

Ironically, it was the freedom for which thousands fought that allowed them to stage their demonstration at the stroke of 11am – the exact moment the nation came to a halt at the Cenotaph, across the country, and after parallel services at British bases in Afghanistan.

The protesters were even given a police escort to their protest venue near the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington, thankfully the closest they were allowed to the focal point of Britain’s remembrance tribute yesterday.

i read this first thing this morning, and every paper is covering this.....

but to my surprise, loging onto facebook, nearly all the people have posted about this in disgust, Thais, English , American even muslims are disgusted by this act as the worst thing was they where not arrested !!! , but given a police escort !!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Britian has now offically lost its greatest, where else in the world would they get away with this ...... my grandfather would turn in his grave if he witness this

Still, why must the media focus on the idiots? Today I watched people of all religions, and social backgrounds gather in the rain and pay their respects to the fallen.

But on another note, Britain has a great seafaring tradition which should make it easier for these jackoffs to get on the first boat out of the country they seem to hate so much.

There's a thin line between being tolerant and being a doormat.

"Muslims Against Crusaders". They have a point don't they? It was GW that said it was a crusade when Afghanistan was invaded, arguably illegally, and started killing innocent civilians.

By calling it a crusade, and with other references to God, Bush made the invasion a religious thing....these people are reacting from a religious point of view. They feel victimised by the soldiers.

What would they be arrested for?

I don't think it's the country they hate....it's the military that is daily killing Muslims that they hate.

If they are really concerned about civilian deaths, they should help reign in their Jihadist brothers. Recent report says the Taliban/insurgents are responsible for 76% of the civilian casualties. The difference is, most of theirs are intentional, market attacks, schools and bus attacks against school children, etc, the vast majority caused by NATO and related organizations are accidental.

I really cannot believe what I have just read. Although I don't normally agree with all of your views, I at least respected your method of debating. That post is more akin to bating and any respect I had for you has just been thrown out with the garbage.

Muslims kill Muslims as well, or is that OK with them?

I'm sure they hate that as well. We're talking about protesters here, not terrorists, of course.

Why can't these people protest against what they decry?

After Voltaire, I may not agree with Peta and extremist animal rights activists, or their methods, but I defend their right to peaceful protest against whatever it is they are angry at.

It's almost as if my detractors can't distinguish between Muslim extremists, and protesters who happen to be Muslim.

There is a big difference.

Harcourt.

Nobody is saying they don't have a right to protest. What we are saying is that they are a bunch of hypocritical, disrespectful <deleted>.

It is often good to have somebody voicing an opposing opinion on threads such as this, playing devils advocate. This is not one of them.

We know the difference just fine thanks. It seems though that some can't differentiate between those who are voicing an opinion and those who are looking to inflame and spread their hatred.

Or are you just trolling?

In which case, show some f*cking respect and drop it.

Well this one went downhill in a hurry
