Puncture 'Foam'

Featured Replies

The concept is donkeys years old. I used to carry this on my motorcycles at least as far back as the seventies. Yes, it works. Here, I have bought it from Carrefour, not Holts, I forget the brand, but it works just fine all the same.

I don't know if there are any drawbacks, maybe someone else can advise on that. Certainly with a motorcycle and a puncture you are stuck, this gets you going again, but take it easy and get the tyre checked properly.

The guys at the tyre garage luv the stuff.....not!

But as a solution for the rest of us, it's not to bad.

Me, I carry a puncture plug kit. Takes 3 minutes to do a repair and your off and running again!

Tyre Guardian had a promotion event at the Maserati Garage near Don Muang a few months ago...

http://www.tyreguardian.com

Their contact info is on their website - they maybe able to guide you in the right direction.

Used the foam frequently from 1980-2000. Taking the tyre off to do a proper repair or replacement later is a mess. Rubber all over tyre, rim and valveseat

And if it goes off when you are carrying it under the seat everything there is ruined permanently.

BSJ's solution is good as it is permanent whereas the sealant is only temporary. In Indonesia we used to use the tire repair kit idea

Quicker and easier than taking off the wheel etc plus company cars did not always have an adequate spare!ohmy.gif

carrfour carries the Holtz stuff, always have it with me together with puncture repair plug set. The holtz stuff is good, it comes with new porsches instead of a spare, bear in mind you need a compressor too if you use it.

Only disadvantage as mentioned earlier by other posters is the mess it leaves, but who cares, it brings you home.
