Looking at a pickup for the farm near Udon and noticed a fair few Tata 1-ton pickups on the roads up here. I particularly like the drop-side, totally flat bed on the back of the 'Giant' model. Much more practical than the usual pickup bed.

Has anyone got any hands-on experience with them? They are probably a bit cheaper than the other locally made trucks and I read they have a 3-year warranty.

last year ive had a test drive the pros are that the price is cheap and its called TATA  , but there are some things like it all looks cheap and plastic, and not strong ,it aint a range rover , there is no automatic so u have only shiftgear,

There appears to be a lot on the roads, most are the CNG version, the gas tank is built into the the truck so takes up no room in the back as the likes of the 'Triton CNG' understand on the options list is a 2nd CNG tank... + it is over 100k cheaper than the Triton CNG in Pickup version + the Triton has not a drop-side option

EDIT: Cheaper still is the Suzuki Carry + has a drop-side option about 360k new... Lots about, most of the people that do water bottle deliveries around the Villages where i live, + Companies have them as well as many have the box version back

There again it is nothing like a Range Rovers price + Land Rover and Jaguar are both owned by TATA

Do they do a 4x4 as if you want to use it on the farm it is essential, as a 2 wheel drive will always be getting stuck! use my ford ranger in 4 wheel drive a lot, always during the rainy season and the rice planting etc

owned by TATA, yes, but they are under different management and different assembly plants.

I noticed the popularity of Tatas in Isarn too. Flatbed, dropsides, CNG. No competition. As a diesel, I think I would go with another maker, but if CNG is within your drivingroutes, economy cant be beaten

Flash bastards! Most of the water delivery boys round my way drive stuff that the Lord Humungus and his gang from " Mad Max 2 " would reject as being too ropey.

Yeh, he lives in a posh hi-so village. I know when the water guy here does his rounds cos the noise the rear bumper makes dragging alone the road. :D

You lucky chaps actually have water DELIVERED???!!!!

Good point there. When the water comes up, we use the boats!

They don't do 4x4, only manual hah-speed. Anyone have clue on prices?
