Haco Lights Switch

Featured Replies

With the time passing by, we bought a total of 10 Haco lights switches from one of the biggest DIY places in Bangkok (HomePro), the ones i am talking about are the more expansive on the shelf with a small green light on the button that turn green as soon as the lights are switched off, you will see that they also sell that small lights to put inside the switches by theyrself, at 50-60 baht each, now, all of the switches becomes faulty, so it's more than just a coincidence, what will happen is that at some point (after 1 month, 3 months or the last one about 1 year after the purchase date) the switch will not turn off the lights anymore, but if you remove that small led (?) light located inside the switch, then it will restart working as normal, i also remember that i read somewhere (maybe behind the cashier receipt?) that those small lights are excluded from any sort of guarantees or refund from HomePro, now we fully understand why! i am not going to call them any names, you can judge it by yourself.....

I decided to upload some pictures for your benefit, so you can have a clear look of what we are talking about here, i put a 10 Baht coin next to the faulty led to compare size, as an added bonus i also uploaded pictures of a Nationine power point which went in smoke after 1 month, i only bought 1 to test it after the seller kept insisting they were good, i was reluctant to purchase because i heard bad things about Nationine in the past and this small test proved them right, we are now using Panasonic and so far so good, my dream was to use only BTicino but the only design available here is the one my grandfather was using back in the 50's...

Is that a led or is it a surge protector.

Is that a led or is it a surge protector.

I'm pretty certain it's an LED from the picture, but TBH all those photos are very unclear :(

Time for a new camera surayu :)

Quick question surayu, do you have to dismantle the switch to remove the LED? If you do, maybe you're unsticking the contact.

How much lighting (Watts) and what type (halogen, CFL etc.) on each switch? What is the rating (Amps) on the switch?

Yes it's a Light Emitting Diode, i have already planned to buy a new camera phone, a Nokia N8 with a 12Mpx resolution, this is the best i can squize out of an Iphone 3G camera back to life after drowning....

Yes, you just have to remove the white cover (the part you press on the switch to operate it) and the LED is just there, ready to be pulled out

Each ones of the switches was connected to his very own 18W Neon light, i am sure they are supposed to be able to manage that :D ....sorry i am not going to pull any of them out again for today....:jap:

Next time you feel the urge surayu, try putting one of the LEDs back into a switch and see if it stops working. Just to satisfy my curiosity that it may be the act of dismantling the switch that fixes it rather than the presence / absence of the LED :)

That's what i was thinking too, been there many times with different sort of appliances but i just redone a test today to see if i was remembering it right, basically as soon as you put the led back into his slot, the led actually switch on and off but the (Neon)light it supposed to control doesn't switch off anymore, i also recall some of the leds stop working too but i don't remember if it was affecting the main light as well, so for all the members that are going to buy some new light switches, take a note of this....
