Has anybody renewed their 1 year license for a 5 year recently in Bangkok?

Can anybody categorically say whether the medical certificate is required?

Any other hints?

yes u need a medical certificate.

For a renewal, do you need on of those letters from my Embassy stating my address?

But can immigration still do it if you don't do 90 day reporting, but do a 90 visa run on a non Imm o ?

Medical certificate is still required...this means it's going to cost you approx 100 baht for a piece of paper that confirms you were breathing at time of the paper's completion.

This afternoon renewed my 5 yr drivers licence...

I got a medical certificate from my Dr, she said not needed and gave it back..

I got a proof of address last June 8th, from Immigration, and scanned it into my PC, I printed a copy, this was fine [did not know a copy was fine] + she said it can be dated any time in the past 12 months [did not know that] so the 8th June 2010 was fine.

Not sure if it makes any difference my address is still the same and this is my 3rd renewal.

Arrived at Nonthaburi Licensing Centre at 2:50, gave the lady 1x copy of passport info page, 1x copy of Visa, 1x copy of proof of address, 1x my OLD 5 yr drivers licence, all was done by computer, she checked my passport.... she then took me into another room did the colour blindness test and re-action test, she then gave me the papers and a number, light was flashing my number, paid the 605 baht, this lady took a photo, printed a receipt and walk around to another machine and gave my my new credit card type license valid to 28/12/2558

I renewed 14 days early, and is very simple and the new/refurbishment of the office is great
