PATTAYA: -- A Russian man tried to steal some expensive perfume from a store at the Central Festival in Pattaya, but was caught by store staff as he tried to make his escape.

Pattaya, 16 December 2010 (PDN): At 11.00 pm on Thursday Miss Wiyada Aranyachot, the supervisor from a cosmetic store in Central Festival Pattaya Beach Department Store, together with her staff and security guard, had taken a Russian shoplifter they had apprehended to the Pattaya Police station.

It happens on a regular basis. One only has to be in Soi 9 Police station often and you will see it again and again.

One would think that people would know about security cameras and security staff at large shopping malls.

I am sure Russia has them as do many countries and, in fact, this petty crime is not unique to Russians.

Tourists from elsewhere and even Thais try it - and many get caught.
