Sorry if it has been asked before but cant find a thread, search option is terrible out here up north with just a simple phone :(

Hello everyone,

Based on many reviews about the pajero sport, fortuner and mu7, i decided that i want to buy the pajero sport 2.5 2wd. Now i suddenly hear from some of my Thai family (im half Thai) that Mitsubishi generally uses more fuel and better go for mu7 cause its isizu, Thai (no import), many spare parts and low fuel usage. Getting confused now as i read somewhere pajero sport uses only 9L per 100km (avarage (mu7 & fortuner about 13L)) and Mitsubishi is well known as well...

Anyone here who can tell me that ive read it all good and its a good car indeed? I told my Thai family they might be wrong as pajero sport is from 2009 and the other 2 from 2006-2008 i believe when it was introduced.

Thanks in advance!

Hans

R U looking to buy new ?

Understand very soon in the next few weeks there are new engines..

not 100% sure, but they are to be a 174 hp 2.5L VGS turbo with 6 speed manual or the CVT auto. or a new 2.2 DiD. ?

Went into a large showroom yesterday looking for info on a Mega cab Triton, bit thin on the ground only 1x mega cab and a very basic one, or 2 different PLUS models, asking the sales person said new engine in 2011..

On the price list they showed me the only Triton for December was the one like in the showroom, sure there was a number of different spec models with the 2.4 petrol and CNG [selling all the old 2.5 diesel or 2010 models?]

Strange cannot find any info on the web, but feel sure someone on here will give better info.

Measured real-world fuel economy for a stock 2009 Pajero Sport 2.5L 2WD was 12.68 KM/L (7.88L /100km) on a 110km/hr highway route, making it the most frugal of all PPV's currently on the market:

However, there is a minor change coming next month that ups the ante even further, with a new VGS turbo that will make 165-176HP from just 2.5L and a new 5 speed auto transmission, as posted here and here

The topic of Pajero vs Fortuner vs MU-7 vs Everest has been beaten to death here, so if you search you'll find plenty of POV's on the topic.

There's plenty of support for MU-7, Pajero Sport and Fortuner here - all have the plus and minus points, so it all depends on what is most important to you. The only member we've had that chose the Everest was a big framed lad who needed as much space behind the wheel as possible ;)

The Pajero Sport is already the top selling PPV in Thailand < 1.2M Baht for good reasons. With the updated VGS engine and 5AT, it quite simply has no peers until you start spending 1.4M+ Baht IMHO.

RE: Spare Parts, Pajero Sport is Thai made and Japanese owned, just as Isuzu and Toyota are - the only 100% Thai vehicle is pictured below :D Common spare parts are always competitively priced between Thai made vehicles, so that's just an urban myth your hearing :)

Thailand's only 100% Thai owned, designed and manufactured vehicle (well, except for the Kubota engine ;) )

I dont know where you get 13lt per 100km for a fortuner mine dose on average 8.5/6 LPK and it's a 3lt knock's spot's off a 2.5 Pajero for speed. +++

13L /100KM = 7.7KM/L, so what the OP has stated looks pretty close to your results.

As for the 2nd part, once the PJS/Triton VGS is released next month, Toyota gets relegated from 2nd to 3rd in the fastest Thai-made diesel stakes. The only question then will be can the Triton take the Navara crown? ;)

13lt per 100km = 7.7kpl the Fortuner dose on average 11.5kpl so 8.5/6 per 100km it's late but I think my figure's are right.

Yes, your figures are right - sorry, the "LPK" threw me off ;)

For reference, in the same test where the 2.5L PJS 2WD did 12.68 KM/L, the Fortuner 3.0L did 12.37 KM/L (2WD) and 10.63 KM/L (4WD).

The "2012" models are still 18-24 months away, but it wont' matter once the new Ranger releases anyway :)

I sure hope the only thing Nissan brings to the "Nismitsu" alliance is their engines :D

Why ?

Friend has a 2009 NAVARA 4Dr 2.5 CALIBRE LE Auto, it is great but for the fuel, gets just about 8km per lt on a light footed run, around BKK lucky to get 6km per lt, before he had a 4 door D-Max Auto, this was 12 on a run and around about 10 in the City......... he is in his 60's and not a boy racer

Nissan's newer diesel engines (does not include the current YD series 2.5L) are coming out of the Nissan-Renault alliance, and are a step up from the other Japanese brands on tech, power and refinement (under the alliance, all diesel tech is supplied by Renault since 2009).

What I'd really be hoping for is something like the Nissan-Renault V9X in a Thai pickup/PPV - that'd be a real game-changer, even in 2012 :D

Nissan is the only Japanese Pickup manufacturer who havent joined the competition of the PPVs.

i will hope for a real PPV showdown 4 years down the road, when its time to sell the PJS 3.2.

.. in Thailand - the Pathfinder (Navara based PPV) is available in most other markets where the Navara is sold.

In 2012 there will be a new Ford Everest (based on T6), a new Chev PPV (based on the GMI-700), and a new MU-7 (based on RT-50) , then in 2013 a new Pajero Sport (Nismitsu), and a new Fortuner (IMV2) in 2014-15 - so you should have plenty to choose from :D

MRO, are they going to put the 5 speed box and Vsc as Australia has this already. I'm sure people would be ok to pay extra.

Waiting for confirmation on the 5AT, VSC and other features like headlight washers, auto-leveling xenons etc. Will update as more info comes to light..
