Genericnic Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Hi all. When I arrive in BKK, I usually take the Airport Express bus (AE2) that drops me in the Khaosan Rd area about 2 blocks from where I stay. On this trip, it looks like I will be arriving with more stuff than usual and more than I want to deal with on the bus. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced alternative that can get me to the same general area? Thanks David
elliss Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 david, i have given your post , quite a lot of thought , and i have a suitable alternative , TAXI :jap:
Genericnic Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 Thanks for the reply elliss. A taxi was something I was considering but did not have a feel for the cost. Since I have always taken the bus, I had not checked taxi prices when I have been there before. David
whybother Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I you have too much luggage for a bus, then you're only alternative is a taxi. It will cost in the range of 400 baht - including fare (about 250 baht), airport taxi fee (50 baht) and tolls (70 baht).

A taxi costs me about $16 US to go from the airport to my house here ... and I can see the airport from the entrance to my subdivision. If I end up bringing the additional box of stuff, the difference between the bus and taxi will be worth it. David
Finlaco Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Just make sure u ignore the touts that claim to be a 'taxi' and make sure its at the official taxi rank. Personally, I go to the Departure Terminal (same terminal, different floor) and take one of the arriving taxis. This is not to save the THB50 airport fee, but cos in times past I had problems when I refused to accept a 10 year old taxi, when 2nd in line was a brand new taxi with functioning aircon. The old taxis tend to congregate at the airport cos most Thai will not flag them down, street side.
