Visa Options

Featured Replies

so i just got denied a tourist visa in loas, I come to thailand for 4 to 6 months over the winter every year as i get laid off during this period. the lady didnt even look at the dates as it was 3 double entries over 3 years and she says no can do. anyways what do i do now? i really dont want to go cross the border every 2 weeks for the next few months. what would be the best option to spend the next 3 or 4 months here before i go back home? i do know next year my money will be spent somewhere else

There are more knowledgable people here who will advise but from what I know I would say you could visit another country such as Malaysia, and apply for a 60 day single entry tourist visa (free) and that can be extended by 30 days at immigration giving you 3 months in total. If for some reason that visa is also refused then you get another 30 days for arriving back into Thailand by air.

(you dont say what nationality you are so i have assumed you are entitled to the 30 day visa exemption by air)

Good luck

poundcake, the normal procedure would have been for you to get a double-entry tourist visa in your home country. This being too late now, an option would have been to submit your application in Vientiane with a covering letter addressed to the consul, explaining your travel pattern and need for the visa the same way you did in your post here. Wherever you apply next outside of your home country, I suggest you accompany your application with a letter to the consul. Everything the consulate gets in writing must go on file; a lower-rung official cannot easily fob you off verbally.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
