Panasonic Net Cam

Featured Replies

I purchased and 'open box' (customer return) Panasonic BL-C131A net cam a few years back in the US. I could never get the setup to work on Vista and due to work, it took a while for me to have time at home to use an XP machine and get it working. The only issue was the 'previous owner' had gone through the setup before he decided to return the product. I contacted Panasonic at that time and they advised the reset would clear that issue which it did and the camera was viewable on the home network. However, Panasonic recommend using their viewnetcam.com DNS for internet access to the netcam and the 'previous owner' already did this and unfortunately, this netcam is still linked to his unique viewnetcam account and the password he set up. It appears that only Panasonic can reset that and I have emailed their tech support so fingers crossed.

If they cannot sort this out, what other dynamic DNS service provider is recommended from the experience of forumites that are actively using netcams and accessing them over the internet?

Thanks\NL

What they usually do is reset the password on viewnetcam.com for your camera they you can activate it then. Once the original purchaser names it i cannot be renamed from my experience with panasonic used cams. It will still work fine but you cannot rename it. Before I was always able to talk to a panasonic tec on the phone and it was easily reset. You should aslo check the a/c adapter, as all of mine are 110v and i have to use converters.

^ Sorry I missed your response, I was traveling

As it happens, I just had an email response from their Customer Service (2 weeks waiting) saying I need to call their 1-800 line so that they can de-register the current 'owner' and free the cam up for re-registration with viewnetcam. I will do that when I get back home next month.

Sounds like you already have messed with Panasonic cams. The one I have is the obsolete BL-C131A and I am thinking of adding 2 more of their netcams to my home security system. The replacement for the old one is the BL-C230 (wireless). Do you have any experience with them? I was planning leaving the old (LAN/wifi) one inside and the new wifi ones outside.

PS. I thought I was the Marine Disco King.... 1988 that is!
