Hi Peter,

If you are over 50,you can get retirement visa ( OA ).You will need to contact your local Thai consulate for requirements as they might have chaged. When I did it the paperwork required was:

1 Medical certificate ( check Thai Immigration site for list of illnesses)

2 A federal police check ( Including finger prints )

3 Bank statement showing you have over 800,000.00Bht & bank letter

4 Any relevant paper work showing your future income ( pension or super )

You can check Thai immigration site, but I strongly advise you to contact consulste, as laws can change without being posted on site.

You will need all paper work INDIVIDUALLY notorised.

All the best.

George.

"how to migrate"

Birds "migrate"; people "immigrate". It might pay you to know the difference...

In Thailand, there's an Immigration department. As far as I know, there isn't a "Migration" department.

This is my first post, need all info on how to migrate to Thailand, where do i start looking.

After having read this forum for several months now I can confidently say that www.thaivisa.com is an excellent place to start.

You start off with an application for a non-immigrant visa. You get the application form from the Thai embassy/consulate in your country, and that's also where you send your application.

The non-immigrant visa comes in various types and you have to decide what fits your situation or needs. See non-imm visa

See also Thai Immigration Bureau, but this site gives no information on the requirements for the original application for a non-immigrant visa.

After your arrival in Thailand with your non-immigrant visa, you can, within Thailand, apply for an extension of your stay. These extensions are usually for a maximum of one year at a time.

Browse this forum, perhaps using its search function. Then come back here and ask questions on anything that is not quite clear to you. By now, having browsed the forum, you will have recognised several experts (I am not one of them) who are always ready provide precise answers. (Weekends may be a little slow)
