China Likely to Replace Thailand in Hosting Royal Trophy Tournaments

Now that the contract has expired, China is most likely to replace Thailand in organizing the next five Royal Trophy Golf Tournaments.

The final decision will be made in April.

The 5th Annual Royal Trophy Golf Tournament held last Sunday at the Black Mountain Country Club in Prachuap Khiri Khan province has concluded with Europe's 9-4 comeback win against Asia, successfully defending their title for the fourth time.

The event may well have been the last time the tournament is organized in Thailand.

The Entertainment Group, the competition organizer, has announced that the tournament will not be held in Europe for the next five years, pointing out that it will be more profitable in Asia due to the fast growing popularity of the sport in the region.

The organizer added that at least 20 groups from eight countries have expressed interest in organizing the Royal Trophy Tournaments.

The bidding process will begin on April 13 and the final decision will be made on April 30.

However, the Entertainment Group has hinted it is highly possible that next year's tournament will be held in China, where golf is gaining popularity.

The Royal Trophy Golf Tournament was held for the first time in 2005.

For this tournament, the format is similar to the Ryder Cup, played with teams from the United States and Europe.
