Test Drive

Hello everyone,

I am currently driving a 3L V6 Ford Escape on a 06' plate but looking to change vehicles....

I am interested in the Pajero sport that is on the market, it gets decent reviews in here and will the price of petrol on the rise again more economical that my current vehicle.

Anyway, went in to the Mitsubushi show room on in Pattaya today and had a look at the Pajero, it looks like it will work for me and they will take the Ford as trade in. My problem is that they will not let me test drive, i have come across this problem before and it still amazes me, it must be the only country in the world where you cannot test drive a vehicle. I explained to the sales person ( who was typically not interested in anything except eating and pulling white hair / animals from her head ) that if it handled ok i would make a purchase and the answer was still " cannot sir, no test drive".

For me it is totally unnaceptable that to spend over 1M on a vehicle and no test drive - madness....

I need to find one to rent for a day so that i can make my decision based on handling, any ideas?

Wow, is that the truth. I have never bought any vehicle without a test drive first. Is that really the policy? I have only bought secondhand here and have driven everytime before purchasing.

My policy is no test drive, no purchase, I would just walk away, no ifs or buts.

Looks like i'll be making a trip to BKK to buy my next car, that's a no brainer if the those deals are legit.....

I do not understand the attitude they have here, they must be losing a lot of business, i do not know anyone that would buy a motor without a test drive???

Does anyone have the address / phone no. of the Mitsubushi dealer that has this offer, i assume there's more than one in BKK

Go to a garage that offers the best deal, after you have hired your preferred ride choice for a day. Some outlets don't want to give a test drive for fear of you crashing it, which is understandable cos on a test drive one always puts the foot to the floor at some time. Imagine the main purchaser, a Thai flooring it, rather not.

Upon my return i will make a trip to BKK & hopefully purchase my new Pajero Sport.

Dont buycars in pattaya or phuket! Go to bkk or any other city! I testdrove it around khonkaen and gave fake number afterwards as they gave no good deals.

Ps. Pjs has good fuel effeciency, lots better as fortuner or mu7 as far as i know.... guess newer cars are drinking less diesel so dont worry :-)

What sort of fuel efficiency km/ltr? in the showroom they told me 14 km/ltr, is that ball park or just sales talk?

Depends on how you ride and what fuel, shell is pretty good but more expensive. 14 avarage is possible in ideal conditions but 12 and a little can be achieved JH

I would have asked to speak to the manager to complain about the sales rep that wouldn't give the test drive. No joy, ask for the owner. No joy, contact Mitsubishi HQ.
