I have started 28 topics including this one since i joined thai visa.

So do you consider yourself more of a contibutor to already started topics or do you like starting topics. If you are a starter how long do you spend thinking of topics to start?

Persoanlly most of my topics i have started are just a bit of fun, nothing too serious, what about the rest of you. What sort of topics do you start?

Perhaps the only satisfactory quantitative analysis can be deduced from the popularily of self-started topics.

For example: Daleyboys two most successful topics.

1) Thaivisa Gentleman Appreciation topic

2) <deleted> of the Day

...not sure how we achieve a qualitative analysis.

Don't know what the moog is on a bout Daleyboy but I'll answer your question.

I've 794 (or so) posts and i've started 17 Topics, so i guess that makes me a contributor. In the main, the one's i have started have been for serious information, like Visa info or Thai language, Buddhism etc. However, i have started some "fun" topics also, when needing to idley pass some time :o

I'm a bit of an all-rounder really. I like to read serious and fun topics and occasionally give my two rupees worth whether be a bit of useful/less info or just bantering about and having a good time.

I have started a few topics, the most famed I suppose being the Ladies forum thread "Tired of Farang Lady diatribe" (or something like that) ... and didn't that sharpen a few fangs? :o

In general I try to post the odd topic that may be of interest to more than a few TV members (excepting of course the "5-legged spider") :D

But do we use the number of replies or the number of people that viewed the topic?

I am not really asking for an analysis but just a question of do you prefer starting or contributing to topics. Should of made that a bit more clear in my question i guess :D

Maybe if you want to do an analysis you could add up all the views and all the replies for the topics you have started then work out the percentage of replies to views and then divide it by the the number of topics and this would give you an average views to replies percentage. Not sure this number would mean anything but heres mine (does any of this make sense?)

28 topics started

10794 views

so i average 385.5 views per topic

with an average of 16.2 replies

So 4.2% of people on average who view my posts actually respond to my posts, that doesnt sound very good does it? :o

I hope this has made sense to you all if not sorry. :D

No, what you have to do is multiply views by replies and then divide by the number of topics.

This number is your 'Thai Visa Score'. An imputed indicator of the quality of the topics you conceive of. Your 'babies' so to speak.

i.e on the above example Daleyboy has a score of * 175,017

Thank you for your attention.

Now i am confused :o:D

You want the arithmetic Product of 'number of views' and 'number of replies' (i.e a blended valuation)

Then of course the denominator has to be the number of Thaivisa topics started

This is a linear mathematical ratings system.

Eg if you start one topic with 1000 hits and 100 replies, you will have a higher Thaivisa score (double in fact) than a person who starts two topics which cumulatively receive the same number of hits and replies.

Come on people, its not difficult.

I think this is bunk. The number of hits might have only to do with how provocative the title is. For instance if I started a troll topic which had nothing in the original post except a smiley but the title was "Exclusive nud_e photos of Angelina Jolie" I'd probably get 2000 hits and about 10 "fckuk you" replies...my score would be huge but the post would be poop. Maybe you are just joking and I simply have no sense of humor...or else....the obvioius.

I think we are getting a bit carried away with numbers here. All i wanted to know was how do you see yourself, more of a starter or a contributor :o

This thread has cracked me up.. :D:D

To answer your question DB - I see myself as a contributer, but then others would say I don't contribute much at all.... but I don't care :o

totster :D

More a contributer, but have started a faire few topics..PCN News and few others bits/bobs.

I'm a contributer mostly. But I do sometimes start topics for information such as "So I want To Be A Flight Attendant" that was quite popular.

And I was hoping they were genuine replys of TV members wanting to give me advice...

I have started about 170 topics I think, so I guess I am a topic starter rather than a contributor, sorry guys but I can't help being a self-centred **** sometimes. I am trying though :D

I don't think about the topic I start, which I probably should before starting ones that are drivel. Sometimes I wish that I could take back what I just posted. Can I?

If I need some advice about something, I often post it on this board as well as asking my off-line friends. There is a lot of wisom on these threads.

Thanks to all the contributors :o

I reckon you are a good contributor as well. Also you are the first person to say that you are more of a starter than a contributor

So do you consider yourself more of a contibutor to already started topics or do you like starting topics. If you are a starter how long do you spend thinking of topics to start?

If I have a question or problem, then I start a thread. If I have an opinion and an interest, then I'm a contributor to a thread.

Mostly I've been "bedlam-ing" away lately (lots of opinionated topics).

I think we are getting a bit carried away with numbers here. All i wanted to know was how do you see yourself, more of a starter or a contributor :D

Let me ask you...

Are you a giver or a taker? :o

IM, I thought this website might be interesting to you since you want to be a flight attendant. It's a blog kept by a former flight attendant that was fired from her job because she took some provocative photos of herself on one of the airplanes while at work and in uniform. (The photos were really nothing bad at all) It's quite an amusing read and perhaps you could email her for some advice in the future.

To answer the OP, I am mostly a contributor. People that usually start threads have a lot of questions because they dont know things. Since I am smarter than most people and know a lot, I usually dont start many threads. :D:D:o

:o

I'm a contributor. I spend way too much time on TV already as it is.

If I weren´t so busy contributing so much intensely interesting and informative BullSiht I´d start more topics of varying degrees of balls.

I´ve started 30 or so topics. Maybe eith or nine have generated a significant number of views. The most is probably my indle moement of disparity thread. There´s only three four of us on there, which makes it a nice little table in the pub to meet friend.s

Blah Blah.
