You can make animated gifs etc in imageready (built into photoshop, there's a jump to image ready button near the bottom of the tools menu, check the help files for details etc)

You could also try using Microsoft Gif Animator (Google for it- free download) which is a simple program- ideal for beginners assembling animated GIF files without the steep learning curve of Photoshop / Fireworks et al.

Suggest you go through a tutorial such as the following. They have animated images on their page, just right click and "save image as" to have something to experiement with. Just don't incorporate the web site images in your own app without approval unless the website states otherwise.
