I have just set up my new business. 2m Baht registered and a couple of thai staff in place.

i will officially resign from my previous job at the end of the month and would like to get a work permit for the new company.

We don't have any income/taxation records as we are not yet trading.

any advice on where to start with this?

i have been legal in this country for many years and want to continue this way. it just seems like a dead end whenever we go to immigration, no one there is of any help.

A new company might get a work permit for the employees, but they cannot get extensions of stay based on their employment. For that the company needs to show tax documents over the last 2 years, which a new company obviously not can.

If no other reason to qualify for an extension of stay (Thai wife or child) you will have to get a multiple non-B and do 90 day border runs.

Immigration has nothing to do with work permit issue. But as noted above you will not be able to extend you stay for work reasons for several years if that is an issue.

thanks for your replies. i am aware immigration is nothing to do with the wp but ultimately they are linked.

i'm not about to start doing 90 day visa runs after all of this time, we all know how much of a hassle it is but then again it would seem i don't have much choice.

working illegally is the easiest way but why should i be forced into it after having valid documents for so long?

thanks again for the replies, let's hope the situation changes, doubtful though, mike golf tours for me i suppose.
