Hi,

My husband and I have visited thailand many times and we recentely purchased a condo in Thailand. We are moving there shortly for husbands job which will involve some consulting work in thailand but mostly working in other countries. We just applied for non immg visa at Ottawa embassy in Canada and asked for multiple entry visa but the embassy would only issue single entry.

The ottawa embassy says he would just need to apply for a multi entry once he arrives in Thailand. Can anyone tell me if this is correct and how simple/hard this is?

Thanks

Welcome to Thaivisa :o

We need a little more information. what class of visa do and your husband have (O, B or something else)?

Depending upon that detail you should get loads of good info.

Braindead here just read the OP properly :o

Do you actually have visa now (single entry)? If yes, what types, if no see below ..

Assuming your husband is applying for a B visa with all the necessary paperwork he will probably get a 3 month single entry, this can be extended in Thailand once he's sorted his work permit.

You should apply for an O visa, see this thread for more detail

It does not sound as if you have any right to stay in Thailand longer than that 90 day entry unless you set up business or otherwise obtain employment and then extend your stay inside Thailand. There is no provision to provide multi entry visa inside Thailand so you would have to obtain a work permit and meet income requirements for extension of stay and then obtain a multi re-entry permit to allow travel.

Perhaps you have taken care of these items but from reading it sounds as if you are leaping before you look so apologize if I am mistaken.

If work permit has not been considered would highly recommend you consulate with on of the forum sponsors for guidance - or at least read up on it here and elsewhere.

You also mention a condo so that might be a basis for stay under the 3 million baht provisions if it meets criteria so you might want to check that out also.
