Year and a half ago we bought a water cooler and we have been really happy about it. However since some time I have been wondering about how to clean it. Lately I have seen what seems to be green algea in the bowl where you put the bottle and that was easy to clean with a papertowel. But what about the pipes inside the thing, should you not do something about that. Is there something to pour in the machine or what to do?

Fill an empty bottle with a water / bleach mix and put it on the cooler. Leave it for a few hours then empty the cooler and run through a bottle of clean water to flush the system of the bleach mix ;)

That'll work except I don' think you need a whole bottle, maybe 25% at most with about s cap full of bleach and it won't need to sit that long either just flush the mixture through the system a few times and since there has been no previous bleach it will sanitize the system pretty quickly....

What pipes inside the system? A water cooler normally only have an exit tap of a few inches from the main SS bowl which is the cooler. The water is not piped around. At least not in my unit.

yup ours 95 yeras old)is all "faded and yellow" plastic..I clean as above... bit o' bleach etc..there are removable parts at the bottle mount area...flush out the bleach good otherwise the gf /wife will whine.

One thing: we refill our bottle from well water and it goes green with adhered 'stuff" in the bottle after a few weeks of refills..wifey suggested I swill sand around inside...clever little girl...talk about exercise the biceps!!

one liter of water with a small dose of bleach in the bowl. tap the water back in the bottle again, poor in the bowl again. Flush with clean water 20 minutes later. Done every month in my home
