Hiya All

A question relating to Registration of childs birth. Do you have to register with the British Embassy a child before you gain a British passport, as it states on the British Embassy Bangkok Birth Reg site you do not have to? A little misguided on that. It seems that you would need to register to get a British passport so my child can comeback to the UK?

However if you do not need to can you apply for a childs passport with a Birth Certificate alone? ie. Thai translated birth certificate with father mothers name on.

Thanks all :o

It is, however, beneficial to register the birth at the embassy, as you will then get a UK-style birth certificate which saves having to convince the authorities in the UK that the Thai one is the real McCoy.

Scouse.
