Oh, and another thing -

Libyan air strikes: Armed Forces minister admits there is no exit strategy

The Government does not know how long the Armed Forces will be engaged in Libya, a defence minister admitted as debate intensified over the likely outcome, cost and leadership of the mission.

(I haven't posted all the text - read from the download)

But I had to post this bit

Nick Harvey, the Armed Forces minister, was asked how long Britain would be involved in the military operation in north Africa. He replied: “How long is a piece of string? We don’t know how long this is going to go on for.”

Hey, you lot in the UK - I know it was a choice between chimps and chumps at the last election, but who voted these clowns in?

Now it appears the West is supporting a bunch of "allah akhbar" shouting islamists against the dictator Gaddafi. Maybe it's a good thing that Obama couldn't make a decision.

That's one thing about Gaddafi - he kept government and religion separate.

I worked for ten years in Benghazi and the church there was open to all denominations. Although it was ostensibly RC, we all had different services at different times through the festivals - at Christmas the midnight mass was RC, but a couple of protestant services preceded it, and there was an Orthodox lot there as well.

Nuns in their habits worked as nurses in some of the hospitals, no interference at all.

Tripoli was different - church there was closed throughout most of my time there.

On Armistice Day we used to have a ceremony at one of the Benghazi military cemetaries, or go to Tobruk to the big ones there. Thousands of headstones, all carrying one of three dates. I got very disturbed there one year, looking at all these graves of 21/23 year old boys slaughtered within minutes of each other.

The Libyans were very respectful of these cemeteries, not so the Italian civil cemeteries, where they ran ring-roads right through the area. The Imperial War Graves Commission paid to have these cemeteries maintained and they were well maintained by local (muslim) people. Religion was not really a problem in Libya, unlike many Arab states.

What's wrong with religious people praising their god? Unless you're a fundamentalist Christian, why take exception to Muslims?

Because typically "allah akhbar" is followed by people getting shot, blow up or decapitated.

If you were at a public place and heard someone nearby shout out "praise Jesus!" you'd roll your eyes. If they shouted "allah akhbar" you'd piss yourself.

I imagine it would depend on which side of the world the public place was in.....

As Richard Pryor once said...Nothing puts the fear of God into him more than hearing a cowboy in a bar yell Yeeee Hawwww :D

If you're in a mosque, on your knees, smelling the guy in front's ass, no problem.

If you're in the street, waving your Kalashnikov in the air, spitting at a captured Kiwi soldier, then I would suggest there is a problem.

If you're a fundamentalist Christian you are more likely to be caught up in the second scenario than the first.

if you hear "allah akbar" you would know it's a non-muslim clown who doesn't know that it's "allah hu akbar" :whistling:

i keep most (not all) heads of my victims in a freezer. my wife started complaining long time ago that there is hardly any space for the goodies she asks our european friends to take to Thailand.

Go back to your..."yada, yada, yada...blah, blah, blah" posts.

They are much more intelligent than your latest one.

are you having a bad hair day? did the Mrs order you to sleep in the 30m² dog kennel with the three retrievers because you talk without being asked by a grown-up? :o

Nope. How's that 24 million baht house coming along???

on 4th of august it will be five years since we moved in and i hope till then everything will be done what has to be done. the 24 million house does not exist anymore. i stopped counting when we crossed the 25 million (that was a couple of years ago) and left it up to my computer to keep track.

any other questions?

But usually sounding more of a "w - aalllllaaah akba' " with the final bit very clipped.

If I can think of any after wiping the tears from my eyes for laughing, I'll let you know. B)

Whenever I discuss this (Off topic) with my Amercan higher management friends and show examples they just say they do not know about these issue's I raised.

Talking about ignorance....

Wake up. They are just trying to avoid arguing with you about your silly "theories". They are not as "ignorant" as you would like to believe. tinfoilhatsmile.gif

Who is silly here UG?

The statements I made are fact.

You just refuse to look at it from a different angle as it will proof my point.

Dream on UG and keep believing the propaganda that is fed into your mind.

You are the perfect example.

Tenth commandment...thou shalt not covet thy neighbours house.

Commandments, of most religions, are generally good advice for keeping a harmonious society.

Even a staunch atheist such as me can see the sense in not murdering, stealing, coveting, or bearing false witness and that if everyone followed those "rules", society (right up to an including global society) would be a better place.

as opposed to the anonymity which some people prefer, some -not all- perhaps because they are ashamed of their dwelling, hardly a month has passed when i did not have a member of Thaivisa as a guest in my house. however, i can't boast having a dog kennel or even a doghouse. my dogs are sleeping or hanging around whereever they please.

Public places in the ME are the favorite targets for suicide bombers. I'm sure that if someone yells it out in the middle of a market place for no reason it wouldn't go over too well.

It might have been a 24 million baht house 5 years ago but you'd be lucky to get 8 million for it now. No wonder you stay home on the Internet so much these days. ;)

Tell that to American athiests and ACLU members. They have forced the removal of the Ten Commandments from courthouses and classrooms across the country.

i never called it a "24 million Baht home" but talked about the cost building it. my home is not for sale, neither for 8 million nor for 50 million. explaining my reasons to people who are more interested in the resale value of their homes and not in living comfort is a pure waste of time.

next irrelevant remark please. perhaps about my cars or my dogs?

Is there a right and a wrong spelling for transliteration from Arabic to English? Surely it is simply phonetic?

You recently made a feeble attempt to mock my spelling of Benghazi....you haven't played spelling police for a while.

Check your grammar when comparing "disbelief" to "jealous". "Dam" is a structure to stem the flow of a fluid, so check your grammar again. Unless you meant "dam_n", in which case check your spelling.

You broke it again....AGAIN....... not bent it a little.

Typical to try to lessen the import of you breaking your oath by saying "I didn't really...just bent it a little". There's no grey...it's black or white. Own up to your lack of integrity or lack of discipline! Be a man! You don't like being talked down to, which implies you have a high opinion of yourself....live up to it!!

So what?

Is this supposed to impress me somehow?

I, too, have friends that visit me but, having observed many of your comments and those who parrot your comments, Perhaps I am a little more selective about who my friends are and who might be welcome in my home.

You have used your home as a dick measuring contest and it cheapens you. I doubt only the more naive members are impressed. I don't wish to be included in that grouping.

I stopped believing you when you claimed the Saudi Arabian Air Defense Forces had S-300 SAMs all over the country. When I proved you wrong, you simply stopped making the claim.

Now you may continue with your boasting. Perhaps others will choose to be impressed. Don't include me in this grouping either.

Well, I am bending my oath again. The ignorance of your post screams for my attention and it begs for my response.

I see you spelled Benghazi correctly this time. Ben Ghazi was just a little too wrong for me to pass up. All of this does prove one thing. You are, at the very least, teachable. Good on 'ya.

On to "disbelief" versus "jealous". I realized at the time I should compare "disbelief" to the word "jealousy". However since you used the word "jealous", I was concerned you would report my post to the mods as having misquoted you. We couldn't have that, now could we.

Now on to your fraudulent claim that I used the word "dam" in my post. Let me suggest you get your Captain Marvel magnifying glass out and look very closely at your 8 inch monitor and see what the word really is. I do believe you will find the slightest break in the letter "m". When observed properly and with at least one eye open, you will discover the single letter "m" is really two letters, i.e. "r" and "n".

The word is actually...d-a-r-n. :cheesy:

Have a nice posting day. It can't possibly get much worse for you. B)
