Hi All, given the high number of farang that invest in new motors here it occurs to me that it would be very useful to share our experiences of the main dealers and accessory shops. The idea is NOT to slag off or compare different makes but what to look out for to avoid future headaches, maybe compile a list of good & bad (with reasons).

I took delivery of my 4th brand new motor here in the LOS recently and thought I was prepared but the Krabi Mitsubishi crew have excelled themselves by taking poor customer care to a new low level.

It's clear to me there are a number of folk out there with lots of experience & knowledge in motors (Katabeachbum, Transam etc.) so I'm guessing we could compile a decent list as I for one would def go to anther province if needed to get good service.

I've searched this & other forums but haven't found a thread covering this..anyone know if this has already been done?

I should add that I reckon it would be useful to include all after sale service's, warranty issues etc. any interesting stories that go with this will be interesting also.

For example: I took my isuzu in for an oil cooler 'recall' at the main krabi dealer a couple of yrs ago (the old one before they moved near tesco), this was an all day job so when I returned to collect the truck I found the window plastic trims (wind deflectors) had been replaced with inferior ones, to add insult to injury the 'replacements' were poorly fitted & still loose, I challenged them about this of course but to no avail as usual.

I did check out the new isuzu trucks during my recent research, but they would only let me test drive in the car park and didn't seem at all interested in my request to compare the 2.5 & 3.0 ltr.

I bought my first car in Thailand years ago in Bangkok, a Suzuki Carribean. In the daytime it was parked in front of the house, at night we took it in. The first service at 500 kms was done at Suzuki's in Saraburi, after which I put a fat padlock on the spare wheel. About two years later I needed the spare wheel and guess what came out under the cover: a old wheel with almost no profile on it, dangerous to use. Credits go the shop in Saraburi...

car hunting is always a pain anyplace..as I mentioned on another thread, I have found Both Mazda and Ford dealers totally inept , unaware of web site specs etc. "offers" etc.. Think the sales people worked in Tesco before? ....I have emailed Ford and Mazda with questions via their sites ..no response in either case. Has put me off buying a new vehicle...better get me a good used one and then it is more under my control, errors, stupidity on my part etc ....have very little faith in after sales service and warranty etc..rather use my not so local tyre centre ( Bridgestone I think)...knowledgeable smart English speaking Thai/Chinese...goes over the top in service even to non power train related repairs...

On a positive note I once used an Isuzu dealer repair shop in Thung Sung to replace my fuel gauge float in my old Mazda truck and I must say they were very good..told us very apologetically it would take 1.5 hours to replace..(dropping a half full tank etc..an absolutely shitty awkward job which I did not want to attempt)...they were done in 55 minutes. Four lads worked on it then boss comes over and checks everything every few minutes....2200 baht.

Luck of the draw I guess..kudos to them anyways...
