September 18, 200520 yr The one thing I miss about the UK is Indian food, and although there are several Indian restaurants in BKK there is none (that I am aware of) in my area (Victory Monument). So two questions: 1. Anyone know of an Indian restaurant in the Phaya Thai/Paholyothin corridor? 2. Anyone have an easy Chiken Tikka Massala recipe? (I tried to use a Fish Massala sauce from an Indian packet I bought in Villa and darn near burned my mouth off..didn't taste like Massala sauce at all..more like yellow curry ). Also anyone know where one could buy Sharwoods mango chutney in BKK (tried Villa, Foodland, etc)? Thanks in advance for any advice..

September 18, 200520 yr Save all the hassle, get in a taxi and go to Suk soi 7/9 and eat it at Buccara. Best I've had outside India. Sorry. I don't remember having Chicken Tikka Masala in India. Perhaps the best I've had in Thailand, then. The Indian restaurants in Malaysia are bloody good also.

September 23, 200520 yr The Indian restaurants in Malaysia are bloody good also. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ###### Right! I was there two weeks ago and lived off the stuff. It is good and cheap, my only complaint is that they kept on giving me the non-spicy stuff. There was a place by my hotel that sold nan with dall for 2.5 ringitt/25 baht. I like Massuman/Muslim curry here, especially with the Roti. I find that the Muslims fry the roti too much though but they do give you an egg with it which is great in the mornings.
September 23, 200520 yr I don't think Chicken Tikka Masala exists in India. Isn't that the dish that comes from Scotland? Sounds funny but I think it is true. I didn't see any in India. In Bangkok I get a good meal at a Malaysian place on Sukh soi 8, first on the left in a little soi.

Just checked and found this link http://www.menumagazine.co.uk/book/tikkamasala.html Yes, and some sad news , the inventor of Chicken Tikka Masala has passed away Glaswegian who 'invented' chicken tikka masala dies A Glaswegian chef credited with inventing the chicken tikka masala has died, aged 77. Ali Ahmed Aslam is said to have come up with the dish in the 1970s when a customer asked if there was a way of making his chicken tikka less dry. His solution was to add a creamy tomato sauce, in some versions of the story a can of tomato soup. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-64055639 (BTW, there is no option to reduce the text size/bold and I just C&P ed it)
