hello, do you know if they are the cheapest available ? And nothing not totally ugly ?

thanks.

MG ZS EV: 1,190,000 baht.

There's no import tax on this model - that's why it's relatively cheap.

To be clear why it's so cheap:

It is not assembled in Thailand; it is assembled in China.

Normally any car assembled outside Thailand has a horrific import tax imposed on it when it is imported into Thailand. A deal was agreed between Thailand and MG China that this particular MG electric car would not be subject to import taxes.

Hence the Nissan Leaf, which is taxed, is about 1.99 million baht and the MG, which has a similar specification, is 1.19 million.

There are other factors also as to why the prices are high other than import tax. See this chart. It shows the amount of tax etc.

So the Nissan Leaf retail cost in Japan is 1.1 million baht. So it should cost about 1.4 million baht, yet it doesn’t.

And the Hyundai Ioniq cost is about 900k baht in Korea, so about 1.5 million after taxes, yet it costs more.

I have seen the same goes for Volvo and Peugeot imported from Malaysia. There is a trade agreement so the price should be fixed, yet it is far more expensive.

The Volvo xC 40 electric model will be coming out soon, but not sure if the Thai price will be competitive at all.
