Bupa Uk - Switching Existing Long Term Insurance Over To International - Can It Be Done ?

Featured Replies

I've been using BUPA in the UK for the last 8 or 9 years.

Does anyone know if I can switch it over to an international policy and keep my long term 'status' with them ? Right now I have the standard 'top of the range' UK policy that covers you for any in patient service they offer. This is a private policy that I took out and isn't connected with any employment. I've never made a claim of any kind on it.

They charge me £60 per month in the UK at the moment.

The reason I'm asking here is that I don't like phoning up insurance companies and asking them any questions which might affect the validity of my existing policy as they will only note what I'm asking against my account and maybe use the information against me in the future, especially when residency comes into play.

In case it makes a difference, I'm well under retirement age.

So if anyone has any experience of changing an existing BUPA policy in the UK over to the international one I'd be interested to hear the results.

I hope this will help you, but it's not exactly the answer you are looking for.

I was on BUPA UK since birth with it's added 10% extra discount that I was entitled to.

When I came out here to retire in Thailand I transferred my policy to BUPA Thailand, but I did not loose this additional discount.

So in theory it might well be possible to do this on an International policy.

If you are looking at spending most of your time here then I would certainly look at local policies, the cost savings are substantial.
