Out Of Employment

Featured Replies

Hi,

I didn't get my employment contract renewed and my employer

told me to return the work permit back to him.

My 1 visa is still good until end of the year.

Questions:

1. do I have to report to immigration that I not hold

a WP any longer? What will happen if I don't?

2. Will my visa be cancelled?

3. Is there a chance to get an extension?

(I heard a rumor someone has to leave the country within 7 days).

I support and look after my minor Thai son. I am not married - legal guardian is his mother (as everywhere in the world)

Any advise is highly appreciated

Thanks

1 - Yes.

1A - You can get in a lot of trouble if you aren't careful

2- possible, but not for certain. depends on who is working that say and their mood. go dressed nicely, be polite and smile. You might get lucky.

3- can't say. Given you status, you can, assuming you have the proper paperwork, get a Non-Imm 'O' visa. Neighboring countries might not give you the one-year version, but I'm not an expert on that. You can certainly get a one-year version in your home country almost every time.

If your visa gets cancelled I think you can go to Laos or someplace like that and get a tourist visa.
