Songkran Festival

Featured Replies

I heard this morning that there was a Songkran happening at Suan Tong, so I went to have a look.

As I approached the area along Thanalai Road on my motorcycle I saw a few kids with small buckets and a mysterious fine water mist in the air, so I went on through, as I did this many water sprinklers came on. Luckily I had my phone and camera in a poly bag, so here are a couple of shots of some more victims. WARNING: it's to be a watery mayhem there later in the day.

Maybe other members can post their Songkran antics over the next few days..

Is it really that time of year again? Camped out here in front of the computer with my dog and the A/C on, it entirely slipped my mind. ;)

AC on?? In what part do you live. I am also sitting in front of my computer, thick sweater and waiting for the sun. :annoyed:

As much as anything else, this time of year means; very little bicycle or motorcycle riding for me. If I have errands in town, I'm compelled to use my car (more gas guzzling) because it has windows. <_<

Saw some kids totally immersed in the suds just feet from the wheels of vehicles. Was wondering if some other person would trip over this kid? Found this contraption a bit scary.

Well we've got our usual pre songkran funeral today. Always seem to be a rush rather than the 3 day afair. Just gone off to the Crematorium about 5 mins ago. Guy in his early thirties drowned a couple of days ago in some local water after a festive session on the "lao Khow" .

It'll be interesting to see how quickly the festivities return this afternoon.

Maybe they were using the watering system to keep the dust down.:cheesy:

Ventured out on the mbike into the water fun for the first time in three days.

Mrs Lman and her daughter has been selling food with some friends on the beach by Mae Fah Luang Bridge.

Many Thais there and only saw one other falang, very little drunkeness evident.

Managed to stay dry going but got a good soaking going home.

I've posted some pics.

Certainly a different way to have some fun and have some food at the same time.

Loved the sandbag legs :jap:
