Police Seize 100,000 Meth Pills in Chiang Mai Drug Bust

Police busted seven suspected drug dealers and seized nearly 100,000 methamphetamine pills in Chiang Mai province, as the culprits were trying to take advantage of the busy Songkran holidays and deliver smuggled drugs across the border.

Narcotics Suppression Division officers from the Region 5 arrested a Chinese drug kingpin along with 6 other gang members, including Thai nationals and hill-tribe villagers, at a resort in Chaing Mai's Chaiprakarn District.

They were found to be in possession of 100,000 methamphetamine pills.

Police also seized 6 million baht in cash, 7 cellphones, pick-up trucks and motorcycles.

The suspects were arrested during a drug handover.

They said they took advantage of the busy Songkran period to deal drugs.

The group reportedly engaged in several drug deals before.

Police are expanding their investigation and are looking for gang members who are still on the run.
