Short Extension Of Non-Imm B?

My Non-Imm B is due to expire 8 days before my flight abroad.I was thinking about a visa run, but have just been told to ask about a possible extension.

I've had the non-Imm B for 11 years without any problems.

Most you can get is 7 days "under consideration", but with ticket out of country within 7 days.

Border run would be less troublesome.
