Topic has probably been covered, but....

With all the different gradse of fuel available, E85, E20, Gasohol 95 and regular Petrol 91, which if any can be used in a 6 year old Honda City. I have been strictly using Petrol 91. I know there is a difference in BTU rating for the gasohol vs petrol, and am not so much worried about that aspect. What does worry me is the ability of the fuel system to handle gasohol blends without deteriorating any rubber parts of the system. Does anybody know or have experience on this topic?

Thanks.

Yes the subject has been kicked about many a time but you refer to a 6 years old car.

I would say 91 red is right but you maybe able to use Gasohol 91 green.

Usually the answer lies in the sticker on the inside of the fuel filler flap.:)

If you have a book with that vehicle it will be written but usually in Thai, it's a matter of whether your vehicle has the fuel components to accept Gasohol.

I have found contacting Honda with frame No. eng No. etc very helpful with motorbikes but about cars never tried.

In my 2006 City I use gasohol 91, no problems. My car is fuel injected by the way, Vtec engine. The sticker under the fuel filler flap says benzine 91 (red)

2005 was the year gasohol was introduced in Thailand and all manufacturers changed their models to suit, so your car is right on the cusp. The only way to tell will be to check with Honda customer service - it could go either way.

Same with my Jazz 2007 V-Tech. Filler cap says Red91 but I use gasohol with no problem.

If it only has a sticker 91 red, I would advise checking it out just to make sure because if I remember rightly from other threads on this nasty things will happen.

All cars sold in Thailand from 2006 onwards are gasohol compatiable.

2005 models may or may not be.

Locally assembled models manufactured prior to 2005 are not gasohol compatible, but imports may be.

I have found that any car that is fuel injected will accept gasohol.

I tried it in a carb'd car and it had to have the carb removed and cleaned twice.

I have an 88 Toyota that is fuel injected and i have used gasohol in it for years with no problems.

The main point about gasohol is not to let it sit stale for long periods. If you use the car every day then it shouldn't be a problem. But maybe a few years down the line you will need to replace fuel lines, seals... etc.

Someone will no doubt come and tell me otherwise :)

Someone in the next Village has a 1991 Audi 100 always uses Gasohol no problems, my Audi A6 always use Shell V-Power, about 2 years ago was almost empty and did not find a Shell station, filled with PTT Gasohol, as I remember the engine ran a bit rough on overrun [take foot off gas peddle and engine appear jerky] could have been anything but since have always filled with V-Power Shell.
