So i move out to Chiang Mai in August (teaching English!), i'm really looking forward to the move but wonder what its really like for a musician in Chiang Mai.

In the UK i pay in many bands playing gigs all over the UK and really enjoy working with other musicians on new material. How likely is it that i'll be able to get a rehearsal space and find some musicians to play with. After reading the "5 musicians jailed" thread i'm a little concerned, i would be OK with not playing live gigs but would stil like to write and record music.

Are there any decent recording studios in Chiang Mai and any rehearsal spaces for a farang to use?

There are 2 - possibly 3 decent recording studios in C.M.; one I haven't visited but have heard about it. There is rehearsal space, do a search. Don't jam outside of your house!
