hey,

I am in the market for a new Sedan specifically in camry/accord class i am considering to buy camry 2.4 with white option.

i have driven the aurions in the middle east with the 3.5 v6 engines which is somewhat powerful compared to the ones here

now my question is how does the camries feel like here are they similar to the aurions in the middle eastern countries in terms of handling and all etc

obviously i wont go for v6 here because of the high existent taxes.

how does camry compare with accords in thailand?

i also heard there is a new up coming model end of the year would it be a new model or just minor changes?

is the 2.4 engine underpowered ?

thanks

shariq

Both are great cars...Camry more executive saloon with a softer ride while the Accord is more of a "drivers" car with stiffer ride and more precise handling.

yepp, I have owned a 2007 Camry 2,4 and a 2008 Accord 2,4.

Camry is soft, suspension, auto and seats. To much windnoise, and steering light at high speed but to heavy at low speeds.

Accors is more sporty, handles and steers better, more efficient auto, more power, seats supporting better, but terrible road noise

Both has adequate power unloaded up to 160 kmh

Nissan Teana 2,5 V6 beats them both

All tree come with US spec suspension in TH, IOW soft focused on comfort and not handling. Same with engines, US spec able to run low octane but less power

Agree with all the above.

I test drove a Skoda Superb during the week - also a very nice entry into the D-segment. Build quality and materials a cut above the Japanese (well into VW/Audi/BMW territory), and with newly revised pricing (down to 1.8M), an option to consider.

Performance is on par with 2.4/2.5L competition from Toyota, Honda and Nissan, but it has better fuel ecomony due to smaller 1.8L Turbo petrol (158HP), and 7-speed DSG. Ride is a little firm, but still well balanced between handling and comfort. Road/wind noise is very low, and NVH excellent.

Apparently it's based on the VW Passat platform, but extended a further 100mm. Engine is also VW group sourced.

I have a one year old Camry 2.4, plenty of power, surprising. I am used to hi powered luxury cars in the states, but they aren't practical here. I love my camry 2.4 G but if I had to do it again I would get the 2.4V, same color, dark gray

Wondefull car, based on stretched Passat, and the 1,8 5 valve T chips step one is 211hp on 95 gasoline (220hp on 98). But I didnt know it was available in TH

Ride is firm to handle better when pushed. Much better :P

So I say to myself - Teana must be the 'asian' version of the Maxima...however according to Wikipedia (Always 100% correct of course) it says this:

The first-generation Teana was sold under the name of Nissan Cefiro in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mauritius, Brunei, Latin America & Caribbean while it was sold under the name of Teana in Japan, Thailand, Philippines, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia & China. The car is known as the Maxima in Australia & New Zealand, and Altima in North America.

Altima? The Teana is the Bluebird replacement? I always felt it was more 'Maxima-ish'. Did they skip a segment when Nissan produced cars in Thailand? Where is the Corolla (Altima sized) equivalent?

I was under the impression it was the Cefiro replacement. My previous car here in Thailand was a Nissan Bluebird 2.0 SSS and the Teana is a much closer replacement series to the Cefiro then the Bluebird.

Thats my impression too, you are going back a fair time, i had a Cefiro, must be 18 + years ago now,and they loaned me an SSS, a Coupe i think, i know it wasnt Auto, i loved it.The 3 Speed Auto Cefiro box wasnt up to much so i changed to a BMW 3, My First Shot at a B.M. here, a Demo, reduced from 2 Mill to 1.3 Mill, its still perfect today, now owned by a Local Lady of the Night.. I cant stand the Teana Look for some reason,so were waiting for the Facelift Accord, she has the V6 engine, and its fine by me, but ive given up splitting hairs these days, i leave that to my Son and Friends who can debate the Merits of Yaris V Jazz for Months. Im off to Work, Note the Time.hes in Bed and wonders why i have nicer Cars :D

The current North American market Maxima is based on the Teana/Murano platform, but is a different car to the rest of the world.

The J31 Teana was an all-new platform that replaced various different Nissan badged cars around the world - Nissan realized they were simply making too many different market-specific models so used the J31 as an (almost) global car to rationalize their range. The current Teana/Cefiro/Non-US-Maxima (J32) is only the 2nd generation of it's actual platform.

The old model V added reversing sensors, xenon headlights and different guages, but the V grade is no longer available in 2.4L - it's been replaced by the (horrid) hybrid.

Well I am really happy with my 2.4G, luxury, plenty of power, good sound, electric everything and the girls love it. Highly recommend it

Not sure if you meant to direct that at me, but I'd be the wrong person to be selling a Camry to - it's entirely outclassed by the Nissan Teana and Skoda Superb, IMNSHO ;)

I do have to admit your post is the first time I've ever read a Camry bening referred to as a chick magnet though.

What a sad country this is for motoring if it's come to that ;):cheesy:

Hate to tell you but I had a Yarris before this but it wasn't for me. When I had a girl in it we passed a 500sl Mercedes convertible with the top down. I told her that was what I drove in the US, she wasnt impressed and said she would rather have a yarris or a jazz

Not sure what the real messages are here?

Are you saying you had a Yaris, but changed it for the Camry out of embarrasment after realizing it was a girl's car? ;)

Also, are you saying the "lady" in your company didn't like the Benz, or, didn't like the idea of sitting fully exposed in the sun, or, didn't realize it was Benz, or, thought you were BS'ing about the Benz back home so said she preferred the car you were in to make you feel OK, or, thought she'd have much more chance of scoring a free car from you if she said she liked your Yaris? ;)

J/K hehe :D

When will the new Camry be released in Thailand?

Anyone got any pics & specs?

The next gen Camry is due for release in TH sometime next year (most likely around August-November). The sheetmetal will feature Toyota's revised "square ends" design language as used on newer Lexus' and the upcoming Yaris/Vios updates, but the existing drivetrains/engines will carry over untouched.

Pics will no doubt surface soon, as it releases in Japan in just a few months time.

When will the new Camry be released in Thailand?

Anyone got any pics & specs?

Hi any updates here? I have a 2.0G 2007 model and was checking out the Hybrid 2010. The Thai Website says they will bring out a new Camry Hybrid that is 30% more economical but 100K more expensive in August 2011.. For me it does not make sense to pay the extra money on a hybrid ( coming or current model) because ,compared to a 2.0G, I would need about 4 years to get even and than the Hybrid is already to old to sell again. ( I drive about 30k kilometers per year)

Anyway, I am looking for the new 2.0 G to come out and hope anybody knows when. I have the feeling that it will be soon because Toyota garages are giving more options when you buy the car like better insurance, skirts etc for free.

Hope anybody can help.

Sure, cant sell anymore...

I think it's cool but surely that's a 3.5 V6 and Camry's 2.4 and 2.0 are being compared to Nissan 2.5 V6 which is really in a class of it's own don't you think ?.

And to all you big butch sweeties in your big matcho motors I'm just going off to Big 'C' in my wife's Yaris, I really like it it reminds me of a go-cart the way it handles.

Why is a Nissan in this thread?

That's what I was asking in a way.:D

OP was asking about large sedans, Nissan Teana came up in post#4,5,8,9,10,11,15.........................

Teana 2,0 is priced as Camry 2,0, Teana 2,5 V6 is priced as Camry 4 pot 2,4

Reading the thread you would know

pics are 2,5 at 1,6 million baht +mods, but could just as well have been a 2,0 at 1,25 million baht as they look the same and both available in pearl white
