Ok large sedans the Camry and Accord is now at 1.6M. 2.4 and 1.25M. 2.0.

The OP mentioned about larger engines being too expensive but I see many more Accords and Camrys 24v V6 how do they compare with Nissan do they do a bigger Teana engine version as well, seeing as Nissan have produced engines up to V10's.

You've been seeing 3.5L V6 Camry's and Accords in TH? You must live in the "right" (or indeed, wrong) neighborhood, as Toyota only sell around 50 units/year, and Honda even less :)

At more than 3M Baht, they don't have a lot of takers.. Perhaps you've just been seeing 2.0L cars with some aftermarket badges and a an extra fake exhaust tip :D

In any case the Nissan VQ35 3.5L V6 (which you can't buy in Thailand) compares well to both the Toyota 2GR-FE 3.5L and the Honda J35Z2 LEV 3.5L as used in the V6 Camry/Accord (which you can buy in Thailand, but only if you're completely brainless, LOL)

You realize that the 2.5L V6 Teana is priced in the same ballpark as the Toyota/Honda 2.4L 4-pot yes?

Should be at least 50 units each in Phuket. Benz and BMW areent doing very well here, I for one wouldnt spend my money on one without proper aftermarket, so japs 3,5 have had some takers in Phuket, just look in the Platinum parking in Central.

But be aware of the 3,5 badged 2,0 and 2,4 with nice dual exhaust. As brakes and visible stuff is identical, only black leather and sunroof to separate them from the 4 pots

Well, that's where they all must be then ;)

The Benz/BMW/Audi dealerships there must be atrocious in Phuket, if they force people into such bad buying decisions just out of spite ;)

Audi in Phuket?

occasional BKK dealers show in malls, but aftermarket...................

BMW, yep Barcelona past couple years, but one year without any dealer/aftermarket

Benz, owner shot himself

Good market for flatbeds tho :)

Both are great cars...Camry more executive saloon with a softer ride while the Accord is more of a "drivers" car with stiffer ride and more precise handling.

yepp, I have owned a 2007 Camry 2,4 and a 2008 Accord 2,4.

Camry is soft, suspension, auto and seats. To much windnoise, and steering light at high speed but to heavy at low speeds.

Accors is more sporty, handles and steers better, more efficient auto, more power, seats supporting better, but terrible road noise

Both has adequate power unloaded up to 160 kmh

Nissan Teana 2,5 V6 beats them both

All tree come with US spec suspension in TH, IOW soft focused on comfort and not handling. Same with engines, US spec able to run low octane but less power

Agree with all the above.

I test drove a Skoda Superb during the week - also a very nice entry into the D-segment. Build quality and materials a cut above the Japanese (well into VW/Audi/BMW territory), and with newly revised pricing (down to 1.8M), an option to consider.

Performance is on par with 2.4/2.5L competition from Toyota, Honda and Nissan, but it has better fuel ecomony due to smaller 1.8L Turbo petrol (158HP), and 7-speed DSG. Ride is a little firm, but still well balanced between handling and comfort. Road/wind noise is very low, and NVH excellent.

Apparently it's based on the VW Passat platform, but extended a further 100mm. Engine is also VW group sourced.

Dear MRO,

This is interesting. Can you point me in the way of a Skoda dealer in Bangkok, around Sukhumvit / Ratchada area? Cheers

What about the 2 luxury car dealers? one next to mission hospital and the other new one on the bypass?

grey market dealers, no after market support, no parts, not even an OBD reader, flatbed to BKK next. Please correct me if they have moved up from this level

In our village mixture of vehicles, go into Sukhothai new town and there are many well off people, There are several Mercedes, one Audi sports, a Mini Cooper, a mint Hayabusa, not many Camry's and Accords with 24v and V6 badges but they look real enough, I must get a good look next time for spec as kbb mentioned.

I understand what you mean though, among the real 4x4's there are lots of Prerunner 4x4 's here as well.

Hehe, yep plenty of those everywhere you go, along with Harrier with Lexus badge, or worse, Lexus VIOS ;) Then you get your clueless ones like Mugen Toyota's, Ralliart Honda's and TRD Mitsu's, heh. Worst I recently spotted was a new Fiesta Sport with a Hybrid Synergy Drive badge :D:whistling:

Does anybody when the new 2012 model Camry is available in Thailand.

I Also would be interested in the Honda Accord hybrid or Nissan Tieana hybrid but neither are available in Thailand. :realangry:

Do they know when those cars will be available ?

Next-gen Camry is scheduled for release next year - given the setbacks from the parts supply crisis, I would expect towards the end of 2012. When it arrives, it'll be a purely cosmetic upgrade - engines/drivetrains will carry over from the existign model.

No plans for an Accord Hybrid in TH - Accord simply doesn't sell enough units to make a business case for a Hybrid variant - Honda even had to abort plans for a sub-1M Baht Hybrid Jazz. (their top selling model), as the business case just didn't stack up.

Nissan don't have any hybrid tech (their tech is full-electric only). They will be borrowing Toyota's Hybrid Synergy drive for some new models next year, but none are earmarked for the Thai market.

Looks like i have to wait to see the new Camry.

Are there any pictures on the net from the facelift ?

At one point in our lives my wife and I though we were all hi-so and whatnot, drivin' around in our fancy 2007 Camry and sipping our fancy lattes, until we both had a close call with someone driving a lifted beat-up old pick-up truck. Nowadays we drive "Big Old Big Butt Bessie" (a Mitsubishi Fuzo with no load), a tank in comparison to what's out there today.

Nothing useful - but I'm sure your Google is just as good as mine, lol.

It'll be much more evolutionary than it will revolutionary - the biggest change being it'll get the current Toyota/Lexus "square sides" design language (which is reported to improve highway fuel ecomony BTW).

The current North American market Camry Hybrid is probably holds the best clues as to the styling treatments it'll receive.

Hello everybody, Just (28th June 2011) heard from a journalist from the magazine "Cars" ( which is under the Inspire Group which is than under the Siam Gila (sport) group again, at the same level as the Casaviva and FHM magazine) that the new Camry will be shown at the Mororshow in December 2011.(http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/468861-when-is-the-next-motorshow-in-bkk/)

This time only cosmetic change and in 2012 a version with Technical upgrades.

Still I cant say that this is super reliable but it might be since Siam Gila is close to Toyota ( we were able to get a Toyota Prius a lot cheaper and earlier (6 months)) But than again who wants a Toyota Prius;-(

I do, as did 2 million other peeps worldwide :D. Picking up mine later today licklips.gifunsure.gif

Yep, two million numpties in the world - amazing.

I know ' beauty in the eye of the beholder' etc ., A Camry is a work of art compared to the wedge on wheels.

Yes I have had a good look at one, you would have to pay me to drive it!

Haha, indeed I agree with the "TOP Gear" Prius opinion. (check out BMW M5 vs Prius video's by TG) I also calculate the cost for Camry Hybrid vs my Camry 2.0G, I have to drive about 4 years to drive the starting cost difference away. Saying that, my 2.0G is now about 3 years old and just clocked 100.000. It is black with modest skirts. Everything is original and no services missed. ( always with Toyota). a few month ago I put new tires under it ( Michelin Primacy).

Please let me know if you are interested.

Don't look too shabby to me. But then again, I've never been known to have good taste in cars or women. I guess my expectations are low, which means that I'm always contented and satisfied.

All Toyota passenger cars will soon have the "slab-sided" look, so either the general populous will start liking the Prius more, or start disliking models like the Yaris, Vios and Camry ;)
