Aircon Btu, What Needed

Featured Replies

Ive got a room about 100 cu mtrs and calaculated I needed about 15-18000 BTU for aircon

A guy who I have used for aircon maintenace very well in the past told me I need a machine capable of 30000 BTU

Anybody with a similar sized room I would be interseted in what you find Ok

Cheers

if your ceiling height is about 3 meters you are looking at 18,000- 24,000 BTU what . A lot will depend on how well your house is insulated. 30,000 sounds a little over the top to me & would be best to have the right fit to not have it overworked or under worked. This is one case where bigger is not better. It also depends on how you intend on running it continuously or infrequently to make your decision.

BTU - - - - - - - Sq Meters

9,000 - - - - - - 9-15

12,000 - - - - - 16-20

18,000 - - - - - 21-30

24,000 - - - - - 31-35

30,000 - - - - - 40-50

36,000 - - - - - 50-55

This is a guide that was posted on TV. Our is a little less than listed- but we only use the bedroom ac for 1 hour to cool so we can fall asleep comfortably during hot season - not dehumidify & use all day. There are 2 great ongoing posts about air cons with some good info.
