hey everyone will be in thailand in late december,will be heading to pattaya for a few days but want to head to a island for new years party,heard about the full moon part on koh phangan and wondered if anyone has been on koh phangan on new years before and if it is a big party like the full moon party

Second that. Get there and find accommodation well in advance.

Be extra careful with valuables. Almost the whole island goes to the party leaving the bungalows deserted and the local thieves know this. Take care.

Actually, most of the "local thieves" aren't locals, a few years ago a frenchman was busted with something like 20 passports, cameras, travellers checks etc in his bungalow.
